Chefs and home cooks are loving the nöni™ pans we shipped from our first two Australian stainless steel launch campaigns. Loving them for their exceptional conductivity (fast and even heat), their indestructible, clean, seamless smooth construction, and the knowledge that their engraved 'First Edition' dated pans will be handed down as heirlooms for many generations.
In this campaign we're launching a super versatile and BIG nöni™ 33cm dual handle Rondeau pan (or Fait Tout, or multi-purpose Dutch oven) with matching 33cm Skillet-lid.
We've been amazed by the performance of the big Rondeau pan and lid!
The 33cm Rondeau can be used alone as a frying pan, or add the Skillet-lid (either way up) to make a Dutch oven/casserole. Ideal for browning meats in the relatively shallow Rondeau, then braising or stewing with the lid on. Don't be afraid to take it outdoors: this oven is also indestructible on open flame (one piece of rivetless tough material that will never crack), with the easy low-maintenance of stainless, and far lighter Camp oven than cast iron. Polish it up when you get home and take it back to the kichen, not the garage!
Use the 33cm Skillet-lid alone as a high performance shallow skillet, crêpe pan, baking tray, or griddle for all kinds of frying and grilling. This highly conductive ferritic stainless will cook and brown more like wrought iron than stainless.
For two pans, that's a lot of cooking versatility!
- 33cm Rondeau capacity: 6 Litres
- 33cm Rondeau weight: 2.6kg
- 33cm Skillet-lid weight: 2.6kg
One solid piece of this ferritic stainless is basically indestructible, and far more durable than traditional old riveted/welded/screwed, clad/multi-ply.....the methods still used by ALL other brands of stainless cookware. The best of those regular multi-part jointed pans (or enameled cast iron) might last decades, but tough 1-piece nöni™ will clearly last centuries.....
It has never been done before because it is almost impossible, and not possible with traditional pressing methods. After thousands of years of metal cookware (and decades of disposable cookware), this innovative little Australian engineering development company found a way.....
Our 2017 launch of the nöni™ 2.5L Saucepan and 23cm Skillet-lid was a great success (see www.kickstarter.com/projects/400294490/solidteknics-noni-seamless-stainless-saucepan-skil ), followed by another strongly supported launch of 3 new nöni™ pans in early 2018 (see www.kickstarter.com/projects/400294490/solidteknics-noni-world-first-seamless-1pc-stainle )
Since manufacturing and shipping First Edition pans from those first two nöni™ projects, feedback from the chefs and home cooking community after cooking on their rare First Edition nöni™ pans has been overwhelmingly positive.
Below this is just a very small sample of the many comments and reviews from experienced cooks all over the web. All unsponsored, unplanted, independent opinion. Yes, this is just the 'tip of the iceberg' of the support we've seen!
As you can see, after decades of multi-ply old clad stainless, many new nöni™ cooks are shocked that a beautiful Australian-made solid stainless pan can conduct heat as well as ours, with cooks now turning their stove settings down by around half.....
For more independent reviews of all our cookware, see what the chefs and experts say: www.solidteknics.com/testify
The high quality, exceptional performance, and multi-century durability makes nöni™ Satin pans great value, but we wanted to reduce the cost further, particularly for these BIG pans. That is why all three new models will be finished Raw (rotary polished inside pan, raw brushed manufactured surface outside), just like the well-received 17cm skillet in our last Kickstarter campaign.
By eliminating the very expensive Satin glass bead finishing on all the outside surfaces, and leaving them in the original brushed sheet finish (with minor manufacturing witness marks), we are able to greatly reduce the cost of these skillets. While not inexpensive, we are doing our best to make these Australian pans affordable for more new cooks to try nöni™.
The original sheet's brushed finish is indeed beautiful, as you can see above, but if you want perfection in surface finish, please don't pledge for this pan. Nothing major, but please be aware there will be some small die 'witness' marks and minor scuffing from handling during manufacturing stages. We think they are still exceptionally beautiful in this Raw state, as widely supported by the owners of our first production of Raw 17cm Skillets from the last campaign.
Please note that the Reward prices here, especially the Earlybird discounted pans, will never be matched again (retail will be much higher, particularly for pans exported overseas), and these new nöni™ pans will never be stamped 'FIRST EDITION' again after this campaign.
These are two ways of rewarding the faith of backers who pledge for our vital Kickstarter launches, instead of waiting for retail.
Another way is FREE pans!
Value Sets: We are also offering great value set combinations of nöni™ with our wrought iron AUS-ION™ pans + bonus FREE pans! Note that all AUS-ION™ pans are our premium Satin edition, but not stamped 'First Edition' (these pans were already launched on Kickstarter, and are now at retail, where they never carry that exclusive stamp for Kickstarter backers).
Delivering well in time for Christmas: Great for multi-generation heirloom gifts for all the cooks you love!
Yes, this is certainly NOT a 'flash-in-the-pan' hipster Kickstarter gadget.....it should be clear from the above world-first features that nöni™ represents a whole new category of high performance cookware: seamless 1-piece stainless. There are no others, and we hold the patents*.....
However, we can't make history alone, without your funding here on Kickstarter, and without all your generous sharing on social media.
A major attraction for backers in all our past 12 Kickstarters has been how we stamp every limited edition Kickstarter pan with 'FIRST EDITION'.
These rare pans are only ever offered to Kickstarter backers. Like our first nöni campaign, backers will receive their First Edition pans stamped in base, and month/year on handle.
Please remember: we promise all our Kickstarter campaign backers we only ever make First Edition pans for them alone, and never again after the launch campaign closes. If you don't pledge here, there is no other way to purchase a First Edition pan.
Imagine your descendants in awe of their rare First Edition nöni™ pans, with date stamp witnessing the long history of their family heirlooms .....
So NOW is the time to secure your rare piece of Australian, and world, cookware history!
Not just a lid: also an exceptional shallow skillet in it's own right, being made from the same solid 3mm ferritic German stainless as all our nöni™ pans, for great conduction. Low walls (20mm deep) for easy tool acess and uloading. Dual handles easy lifting big loads. Australian innovation!
You've never seen a LID cook like this!
Our exceptional conductive solid ferritic stainless steel Fast and even heating on all heat sources, without the need for fragile multi-ply clad layers.
Yes.....if it is the right type of stainless!
For nöni™ we scoured the globe for this exotic, and exceptional, German ferritic stainless steel (zero stainless is made in Australia!). This is not the more common Nickel austenitic stainless steel: this ferritic grade is much more heat conductive. In fact, it is almost twice as conductive as normal austentic stainless.
Not quite as conductive as our wrought iron pans, but it feels very close when you're cooking, and sears a bit like iron!
Non-Nickel ferritic stainless = magnetic = induction compatible!
Ferritic stainless is magnetic (not magnetised), because it is not an alloy with Nickel. Most stainless pans (and benchtops, forks, spoons, etc), are non-magnetic austenitic stainless, which is a very poor thermal conductor. Check your stainless around the kitchen: if a magnet doesn't stick strongly, it is austenitic, which is great for non-cookware items and chef knives.
In austentic cookware, Nickel leaches into your food, particulularly the first few cooking cycles, and moreso with acidic foods.
See the experiment below of nöni™ in an eye-opening 'boiling race' against another top tri-ply stainless brand.
Chefs can feel how conductive our cookware is versus the old multi-ply cookware, and this video clearly shows it: one solid thick monobloc of the right material is more efficient than multiple layers fighting to overcome the insulation of the final layer of very low conductivity austenitic stainless. Ferritic stainless is nearly twice as conductive as austenitic stainless, so you can turn your burners down!
The voice of experience The reaction from Chefs and experienced food industry people has been overwhelmingly positive. In the end, the proof is in the cooking, and they know nöni™ is something very special indeed.....
See Section 2 for more nöni™ material tech detail.
Certainly not inexpensive, but an investment in 'paying it forward' for future generations. Manufacturing in Australia is expensive, particularly with this world-first (and difficult) patented method, to this high quality level, with a lot of artisanal hand finishing, in this exotic German ferritic stainless.....
Please note that we have set our prices for the new nöni™ First Edition pans artificially low (unsustainable at retail) for backers of this campaign. Prices will be much higher when they eventually reach retail after the campaign.
We hope you will agree that nöni™ is still great value, as an investment in a lifetime of solid cooking love, and an heirloom to pass down for many generations. See FAQs at bottom for much more detail on Australian manufacturing cost reality and our prices vs. the mass-produced import competition.
A Kickstarter launch of any new innovation is not online retail: that isn't the purpose of the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform. Remember also we're creating something new and revolutionary in this industry, from scratch, as Australia's only production cookware manufacturer. Unlike the online retailers, we don't have a warehouse full of imported generic finished products ready to ship.

Forever grateful for all the love from supporters!
We knew we had created something very special with our first nöni™ pans, but we were overwhelmed by the big reaction on social media. The feedback before and after was HUGE for this industry!

We launched a whole new cookware industry for Australia when we crowdfunded our first Australian iron cookware here on Kickstarter in September 2014, then our first two nöni™ pans in December 2017.
Our cookware is acclaimed by chefs and experts, selling strongly at retail in Australia, and exported to the USA and UK. Solidteknics is still the only production cookware made in Australia. Every other brand is imported, and disposable synthetic nonsticks sadly still dominate our retail shelves.....and landfills. We're helping change attitudes to all that waste and damage, and witnessing a growing movement rejecting disposable/toxic cookware, and all kinds of unsustainable habits, for the sake of future generations.
Our patent-pending nöni™ is the only seamless one-piece stainless steel production cookware in the world, and easily the most durable.
Follow our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, join the Facebook Solidteknics Cookware Users Group, then please SHARE the news with all your friends: that you’ve found the finest iron and stainless cookware available today, they're made in Australia, and these new heirloom collectible FIRST EDITION nöni™ pans are only available once, by pledging here on Kickstarter before the campaign deadline.
We feel blessed and proud to see so much strong support in the cooking community for our Australian cookware vision. We simply would not have survived, against all the odds (and all the bigger importers), if not for your faith, your social sharing, and your Kickstarter pledging. You inspire us to keep on pushing through the many barriers.
Together we'll make history, not just the world's finest cookware!
Thank you all, and Happy Cooking!!

.....our 13 current AUS-ION pans, available at good kitchenware stores and online in Australia, USA, and now UK (more countries coming soon!), and in our big combinations Reward sets here, with FREE pans.
All 100% made in Australia from clean Australian iron, in a world-first patented process for forming complete seamless 1-piece wrought iron pans.
Seasoned raw iron is still the only known natural non-toxic nonstick that is also forever-renewable through simple seasoning. The perfect cookware combination is iron skillets for all high temperature fat/oil-based cooking, and stainless pots for all liquids, acidic sauces, boiling, slow cooking, etc. AUS-ION™ and nöni™ were designed to be combined into one range to cover all cooking situations.
A passion for engineering world-leading chef equipment
Unusual (we think we're the first), but true! Like our seamless wrought iron skillets, we are offering a multi-century warranty for nöni™. This isn't a marketing gimmick. We're not marketeers.....we're engineers. This is just solid engineering.
Made from one seamless 3mm wrought monobloc of very tough ferritic stainless, this material won't crack like cast iron. There's no synthetic coatings or enamel, and there's no rivets, welds, seams or clad layers to eventually fail. It would be clear to any experienced engineer that there is far more than one century of life in nöni™ cookware, and quite possibly millenia.....
Note that our warranty only covers normal cooking situations, not abuse, and doesn't cover small stains and rust spots that may be possible in extreme environments.
We want our supporters to buy our cookware only once, and hand them down for multiple generations as treasured heirlooms. That's why we stamp the date of manufacture on every pan.
Parents and grandparents are already talking like this about our wrought iron pans, and that's what makes us most proud of all.....making history, not just cookware!
Why choose this particular ferritic stainless material?
Our new stainless pans are called, in full, 'CoSSNoNi', for 'Conductive Seamless Stainless No Nickel' ('nöni' for short!). Our nöni™ pans are formed into shape from one solid sheet of 3mm ferritic non-Nickel stainless steel (only very tiny trace amounts of Nickel: 0.6% maximum), which is nearly twice as conductive as regular Nickel-based stainless steels (eg. '18-10 stainless' means 18% Chromium and 10% Nickel).
This makes our ferritic stainless more thermally conductive, and also very compatible with induction, without the need for clad/ply layers.
Because no (zero!) stainless steel sheet is made in Australia, we had to scour the globe for the best stainless to meet our rigorous specifications: more conductive than regular so we didn't need clad layers, no nickel for magnetism (induction compatibility), and free of heavy metals for health, and it had to be formable into our saucepan shapes with our new patent-pending method. Not easy, but now the results speak for themselves!
nöni™ cookware weights and key dimensions:
Similar weights to other high-quality stainless cookware:
33cm Rondeau capacity: 6 Litres , 2.6kg, 10cm deep, 46cm long overall
33cm Skillet-lid weight: 2.6kg, 2.5 deep, 46cm long overall
26cm Sauteuse: 2L capacity, 1.94kg, 5cm deep, 58cm long overall.
26cm Skillet-lid: 1.73kg, 1cm deep, 49cm long overall.
17cm Skillet: 0.84kg, 3cm deep, 43cm long overall.
2.5L Saucepan: 1.25kg, 9cm deep, 50.5cm long overall.
23cm Skillet-lid: 1.14kg, 1cm deep, 40cm long overall.
Horses for courses.....
We still prefer the natural nonstick of seasoned iron for high temp frying, grilling, etc, but.....
Skillets in stainless are also easier to maintain, and faster to clean if you're in a hurry. Tradeoff: they'll never be as nonstick as seasoned iron!
A track record of successful campaigns, reliable shipping, and thousands of happy First Edition backers!

We don't say this to be boastful, but to show the depth of support we've so rapidly built in the cooking community for new innovation in iron and stainless pans.
The Kickstarter funding success certainly has been important for turning our dream for a new world-leading Australian cookware industry into a reality. However, it was our supporters sharing the love on social media that really made Solidteknics successful at retail in Australia, in export to the USA, and now to UK.
Sure, we got the engineering right, but without so many strong supporters we would still only be 'dreamers with prototypes'!
Still have questions?
If you have any concerns about anything in this campaign, please contact us first via Kickstarter direct message or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
Please do not run first to social media with a public post before you understand the background. If you knew us you would know we have solid integrity, and we are dedicated to making all our supporters happy.
We always give, and expect, mutual respect.

Risks and challenges
After a long and intensive development period, 12 (twelve!) successful Kickstarter campaigns in Australia, two in the USA, overwhelmingly positive feedback from top chefs, strong retail sales and exports, and many production runs, SOLIDteknics is rapidly becoming established as a major chef equipment brand.
Though undeniably very hard work to launch manufacturing in the USA, on the scale of products and businesses I’ve launched this is certainly at the low risk end. After decades in the chef equipment industry and a long R&D process, I’m very confident the product is the best it can be - in fact, the best in the world - for all the reasons presented in the project detail.
If our backers allow us reach our target in time, the funds will be quickly applied to the tooling and production costs and we will ship on time (barring 'acts of God'!), as promised. We have a long and proven track record of keeping our promises, and fixing any unexpected issues quickly and thoroughly, with mutual respect.
Apart from all the engineering experience, it is our amazing strong base of passionate supporters who really ensures our success with each campaign (then ongoing retail and export success). We couldn't do it without YOU, and we are very grateful for all your support. Thank you all!
