SOLIDTEKNICS’ new stainless steel, engraved First Edition, 'workhorse' 22cm nöni™ Sauteuse is now available.
Chefs and home cooks are loving the nöni™ pans we shipped from our first five Australian wrought stainless cookware launch campaigns.
Loving them for their exceptional conductivity (fast and even heat), and confidence there's no Nickel leaching from our ferritic stainless.
Loving their indestructible, seamless smooth 1-piece construction, and the knowledge that their engraved 'First Edition' dated pans will be handed down as heirlooms for many generations.
In this campaign we're launching a super versatile 22cm nöni™ Sauteuse pan, at a crazy low introductory price - our lowest ever for a 'big' nöni™ skillet - if you're fast enough to pledge for our Earlybird offer!
Our Sauteuse pans are the most versatile of all, basically a deep skillet and shallow saucepan in one!
- Shallow enough to function as a high achieving frying/grilling skillet, but with higher tapered Windsor walls ideal for the sauté toss!
- Deep enough for cooking with liquids (eg. blanching vegetables, cooking quinoa/cous cous/polenta, poaching eggs, deep frying etc etc).
Add one pan and triple your versatility!
As a big bonus we already have an optional lid here in Australia to fit this new 1st edition 22cm nöni™ Sauteuse: Our 23cm nöni™ skillet-lid! Not just a lid, but a high performance flat skillet/griddle/crepe pan in its own right.
That's 3 combinations from 2 pans: use them separately for all the things they each do best, then in combination to make a saucepan with lid!
The 22cm deep skillet shape can accommodate pastas, stews and casseroles, and add the nöni™ 23cm lid from our first nöni™ 2.5L Saucepan campaign which makes it great for slow roasting and braising.
Already loved by cooks around the world, the 23cm Skillet-lid is also available to purchase in this campaign if you don’t already have one (originally launched together with the 2.5L nöni™ Saucepan in 2017).
This Australian 22cm nöni™ Sauteuse pan is being launched here precisely because a very similar nöni™ USA 8" pan released for the US market has been so popular. We had a lot of requests for an Australian-made nöni™ version and we heeded the call! The fact that our Australian 23cm Skillet-lid also fits this new 22cm Sauteuse just sweetens the pot.
Each pan is stamped with the month and year of manufacture, and also stamped 'First Edition' for the first and last time, only available for Kickstarter backers in this campaign!
Direct prices will be higher after the Kickstarter campaign ends. We've kept the cost as low as possible for new Kickstarter backers to 'Try Us' and understand first-hand what all the excitement is about in this new wrought 1-piece cookware era!
With your support here on Kickstarter we will put this innovative new model into production, and together make history, not just the world's finest cookware!
No stainless cookware in history has come with this array of multi-generation benefits.
Nöni™ is the first ever cookware to be wrought from one seamless piece of stainless steel, using a patented process, and crafted in Sydney from a flat sheet of highly conductive exotic German 3mm ferritic (non-Nickel) stainless into a high performance, seamless 1-piece pan.
We're mechanical engineers who cook, and, after 2+ decades of experimenting, found an innovative way to form a pan body and handle as a single solid wrought monobloc, eliminating all welds, screws, and the dreaded rivets (the bane of every chef's existence - say goodbye to loose jiggly handles!).
This seamless wrought construction makes our pans a pleasure to use, easy to clean, and basically indestructible.
The experts and chefs who've cooked with our innovative pans have the experience to know we are revolutionising the outdated cookware industry: www.solidteknics.com/testify
Only one chef has ever seen our confidential manufacturing method!
One solid, 3mm thick wrought piece is far more durable and hygienic than traditional riveted/welded/screwed, clad/multi-ply constructions still used by ALL other top brands of stainless cookware.
The best of those regular multi-part jointed pans might last decades, but nöni™ will last centuries. In fact, our warranty is multi-century!
We want our supporters to buy our cookware only once, and hand them down for multiple generations as treasured heirlooms. That's why we stamp the date of manufacture on every pan. Parents and grandparents are already talking about handing down their heirloom Solidteknics pans (some writing them into their will!), and that's what makes us most proud of all.....making history, not just cookware.
Please note: these Reward Pledge prices will never be matched again! Retail will be higher, particularly overseas, and this nöni™ Sauteuse pan will never be stamped FIRST EDITION again. Not just the best value we've ever offered: a rare limited edition collectible!
The high quality, exceptional performance, and multi-century durability makes nöni™ pans great value and, just like our other nöni™ skillets, the 22cm Sauteuse offered in this campaign will be finished 'RAW' (Rotary polished inside pan, and raw brushed manufactured surface outside). There will be minor processing scuff marks, unique to each pan, which we consider to be a thing of natural beauty and truth!
By eliminating the very expensive Satin glass bead finishing on all the outside surfaces, and leaving them in the original brushed sheet finish (with minor manufacturing witness marks), we are able to greatly reduce the final cost.
We've had over 20 successful launch campaigns - plus retail and export success - for our innovative, chef-acclaimed, Australian-made Solidteknics cookware.
It has never been done before because it is almost impossible, and not possible with traditional pressing methods. After thousands of years of metal cookware (and decades of disposable cookware), this innovative little Australian engineering development company found a way.....
Kickstarter backers are loving cooking with our Australian-made nöni pans, just like top chefs and experts. We hope all the excitement continues to grow awareness about this revolution in seamless conductive cookware. That is our vision. We can only make our dream come true with your support.
It might look simple, but Solidteknics seamless wrought cookware is the culmination of over two decades of research by our founder Mark Henry, a mechanical engineer who cooks...and always wonders if things could be done better!
Our 2017 launch of the nöni™ 2.5L Saucepan and 23cm Skillet-lid was a great success (see www.kickstarter.com/projects/400294490/solidteknics-noni-seamless-stainless-saucepan-skil ), followed by another strongly supported launch of 3 new nöni™ pans in early 2018 (see www.kickstarter.com/projects/400294490/solidteknics-noni-world-first-seamless-1pc-stainle ). Mid 2018 we launched our nöni™ 6L Rondeau and 33cm Skillet-lid https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/400294490/solidteknics-big-1pc-wrought-ferritic-stainless-no and late 2018 we launched our first ever baking pieces https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/400294490/solidteknics-australian-made-noni-stainless-skille
- We may be new to you, but we've been building a solid following: we're not overnight hipster crowdfunding marketeers importing generic offshore rebadged cookware; we're real mechanical engineers who cook, with 2+ decades of experience developing innovative equipment for passionate cooks and professional chefs.
- This is a real world-first: we've invented and patented a method for forming an entire seamless, rivetless, 1-piece pan from a single piece of metal (not stamped, pressed, or hammered in the old way ... something new!). Our wrought ferritic stainless is a whole new era in stainless cookware.
- Time to change your perceptions: Our non-Nickel ferritic stainless is MORE conductive than the common Nickel austenitic aluminum-clad stainless you are familiar with. This is new material and 3mm solid, and it conducts better than the top clad brands (see our water boil races). We don't give away more trade secrets than that - competitors are watching our progress very closely.
Our pans are a world-first, but they are not unknown. You can trust the independent reviews from chefs and experts who call Solidteknics the finest cookware ever made: www.solidteknics.com/testify
There are two ways we reward the faith of backers who pledge for our Kickstarter campaigns, which are vital to our growth and success as the only productin cookware manufacturer in Australia:
- Our reward prices, especially the Earlybird discounted prices, will never be matched again - retail will be much higher, particularly for pans exported overseas.
- The 22cm nöni™ Sauteuse pan will never again be stamped 'FIRST EDITION' - we reserve that exclusive detail only for our campaigns.
Introducing a third way: FREE pans!
Value Sets: In this campaign, we are offering great-value combinations of our nöni™ and wrought iron AUS-ION™ pans + bonus FREE pans! (Note that all AUS-ION™ pans are shipped RAW, just covered in beeswax to protect against corrosion in transit.) All pans are stamped with the month and date of manufacture. Our 22cm nöni™ sauteuse pans are the only ones stamped 'First Edition' in this Kickstarter.
A major attraction for backers in all our past Kickstarters has been the 'FIRST EDITION' stamp, signifying that these limited edition pans are only ever offered to Kickstarter backers.
We launched a whole new cookware industry for Australia when we crowdfunded our first Australian iron cookware on Kickstarter in September 2014, and our first two nöni™ pans in December 2017. We've now had 18 successful Australian Kickstarter launches, and 6 in the USA.
Our cookware is acclaimed by chefs and experts, selling strongly at retail in Australia, and exported to the USA and UK. Solidteknics is still the only production cookware made in Australia. Every other brand is imported, and disposable synthetic non-sticks sadly still dominate our retail shelves...and landfills. We're helping change attitudes to all that waste and damage, and witnessing a growing movement that rejects disposable/toxic cookware - and all kinds of unsustainable habits - for the sake of future generations.
Our patent-pending nöni™ is the only seamless one-piece stainless steel production cookware in the world, the most conductive, and easily the most durable.
Follow our Facebook, Instagram, join the Facebook Solidteknics Cookware Users Group, and sign up for our Solid Supporters Newsletter, then please SHARE the news with all your friends. Let them know that you’ve found the finest iron and stainless cookware available today, and that our heirloom-collectible FIRST EDITION nöni™ pans are only available by pledging here on Kickstarter before the campaign deadline.
Together we'll make history, not just the world's finest cookware!
Thank you all, and Happy Cooking!!

Yes...if it is the right type of stainless!
For nöni™ we scoured the world for this exotic, exceptional, ferritic stainless steel. None was made in Australia, so we have this ferritic stainless specially made for us in Germany. This is not the more common Nickel austenitic stainless steel: this ferritic grade is much more heat conductive. In fact, it is almost twice as conductive as normal austenitic stainless.
Ferritic stainless is magnetic (not magnetized), because it is not an alloy with Nickel. Most stainless pans are non-magnetic austenitic stainless, which is great for non-cookware items and chef knives but a very poor thermal conductor. Check the stainless around your kitchen (bench tops, forks, spoons, etc.): if a magnet doesn't stick strongly, it is austenitic.
Not only is it less conductive, but normal austenitic cookware also has a higher Nickel content, which leaches into food, particularly during the first few cooking cycles, and more so with acidic foods.
Watch the eye-popping water boil race between nöni™ and a top tri-ply stainless pan:
Chefs can feel how conductive our cookware is versus the old multi-ply cookware, and this video clearly shows it: one solid thick monobloc of the right material is more efficient than multiple layers fighting to overcome the insulation of the final layer of very low conductivity austenitic stainless. Ferritic stainless is nearly twice as conductive as austenitic stainless, so you can turn your burners down!
The voice of experience and the reaction from Chefs and experienced food industry people has been overwhelmingly positive. In the end, the proof is in the cooking, and they know nöni™ is something very special indeed... For more, watch https://youtu.be/glLLJ7hg-As
See Section 2 for more nöni™ material tech detail.
Certainly not inexpensive, but an investment in 'paying it forward' for future generations. Manufacturing in Australia is expensive, particularly with this world-first (and difficult) patented method, to this very high quality level, and with a lot of artisanal hand finishing. Not to mention the material...
As mentioned above, we have set our prices artificially low for backers of this campaign. Prices will be much higher when they eventually reach retail.
If yes, please visit: www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/kickstarter%20basics. We hope you'll understand and support our vision while we make history, not just the world's finest cookware!
Once you've made your pledge, you can leave the rest to us. After launching over 20+ campaigns and successfully reaching our funding goal and delivering on each one, we know a thing or two about crowdfunding!
Outside of this Kickstarter, find our existing iron and stainless cookware in retail stores and online in Australia, UK, and USA: www.solidteknics.com/where-to-buy
For the full customer service experience from the experts, order direct from our own SolidSupporters Stores:
- Australia (all Australian-made) - http://www.solidteknics.com/shop/
- USA (all USA-made) - http://www.solidteknicsusa.com/shop/
The lead times for various batches are listed under each Reward: delivery wil commence late Octoober 2019.
Please remember, this isn't imported cookware stocked in a warehouse ready for shipping: this is crowdfunding to create and manufacture locally, from scratch, a whole new set of innovations in cookware. It takes a little longer than retail, but our Sydney factory always miraculously delivers our world-firsts as promised!
We knew we had created something very special with our first nöni™ pans, but we were overwhelmed by the positive reaction on social media. The feedback was HUGE for this industry!

.....our 10 current AUS-ION™ pans, all 100% made in Australia from clean Australian iron, in a world-first patented process for forming complete seamless 1-piece pans (the same patents used for our crafting our nöni™ wrought stainless cookware).
A passion for engineering world-leading chef equipment
Unusual (we think we're the first), but true!
Like our seamless wrought iron skillets, we are offering a multi-century warranty for all nöni™ cookware and bakeware. This isn't a marketing gimmick. We're not marketeers.....we're engineers. This is just solid engineering.
Made from one seamless 3mm wrought monobloc of very tough ferritic stainless, this material won't crack like cast iron. There's no synthetic coatings or enamel, and there's no rivets, welds, seams or clad layers to eventually fail.
It would be clear to any experienced engineer that there is far more than one century of life in nöni™ cookware, and quite possibly millenia.....
Note that our warranty only covers normal cooking situations, not abuse, and doesn't cover small stains and rust spots that may be possible in extreme environments.
Why choose this particular ferritic stainless material?
Our new stainless pans are called, in full, 'CoSSNoNi', for 'Conductive Seamless Stainless No Nickel' ('nöni' for short!). Our nöni™ pans are formed into shape from one solid sheet of 3mm ferritic non-Nickel stainless steel (only very tiny trace amounts of Nickel: 0.6% maximum), which is nearly twice as conductive as regular Nickel-based stainless steels (eg. '18-10 stainless' means 18% Chromium and 10% Nickel). This makes our ferritic stainless more thermally conductive, and also very compatible with induction, without the need for clad/ply layers.
Because no (zero!) stainless steel sheet is made in Australia, we had to scour the globe for the best stainless to meet our rigorous specifications: more conductive than regular so we didn't need clad layers for fast and even heating, no nickel for magnetism (induction compatibility), and free of heavy metals (for health), and it had to be formable into our saucepan shapes with our new patent-pending method. Not easy, but now the results speak for themselves.
Horses for courses.....
We still prefer the natural nonstick of seasoned iron for high temp frying, grilling, etc, but.....
Skillets in stainless are also easier to maintain, and faster to clean if you're in a hurry. Tradeoff: they'll never be as nonstick as seasoned iron!
Note that our warranty only covers normal cooking situations, not abuse, and doesn't cover small stains and rust spots that may be possible in extreme environments. We haven't seen rust on nöni™ in all our trials (and long-term kitchen use, including dishwashers), except for long duration salt spray tests: way harsher than real kitchen life. In the unlikely event you did develop a small rust spot, don't worry: it will polish off and the pan won't be harmed. In general, don't leave the pan in wet/caustic/acidic environments.
Simple care would suffice, like wash and dry, or at least open the dishwasher door after a cycle. Don't leave in seawater, or in contact with wet dissimilar metals (like austenitic stainless sink top). We won't replace a pan, with all the waste involved, for a small, easily-fixed blemish or surface discoloration caused by lack of care.

Risks and challenges
After a long and intensive development period, 18 (eighteen!) successful Kickstarter campaigns in Australia, six in the USA, overwhelmingly positive feedback from top chefs, strong retail sales and exports, and many production runs, SOLIDteknics is rapidly becoming established as a major chef equipment brand.
Though undeniably very hard work to launch manufacturing in Australia and the USA, on the scale of products and businesses I’ve launched this is certainly at the low risk end.
After decades in the chef equipment industry and a long R&D process, I’m very confident the product is the best it can be - in fact, the best in the world - for all the reasons presented in the project detail.
If our backers allow us reach our funding goal, the funds will be quickly applied to the tooling and production costs and we will ship on time (barring 'acts of God' or crazy 'left-fielders'!), as promised.
We have a long and proven track record of keeping our promises, and fixing any unexpected issues quickly and thoroughly, with mutual respect.
Apart from all the engineering experience, it is our amazing strong base of passionate supporters who really ensures our success with each campaign (then ongoing retail and export success). We couldn't do it without YOU, and we are very grateful for all your support. Thank you all!
