Wood Wars 3D is a highly accessible table top strategy game for all. Developed by Joe Larson. In Wood Wars 3D, players build armies by taking race heads and putting them on class bodies to mix-and-match pawns. Then players take turns moving herds of pawns using measured distances, and attacking each other, simulating artillery attacks with marble rolls.
The base set being introduced includes about 65 printed parts including;
- 6 class pawns
- 8 race heads
- 40 filler pawns
- 4 terrain pieces
- 4 tokens
- 2 coins
- a marble roller
- plus a marble and 22 cards.
And this is only the beginning. With your support Wood Wars will be able to see regular updates with new races, new rules, and new aspects of game play that will insure it can be a living game for a long time.
Wood Wars 3D is simple enough for youth, but has enough complexity for adults. It is a great bridge for those who enjoy war strategy and skirmish games, and those who don't. It really is a game for all.
This kickstarter is to raise the funds to build (or hire) a farm of 3D printers that can run simultaneously to produce the game for all backers as quickly as reasonably possible. Some of the funds raised will also pay to develop additional expansions and refine the game.
I've been neck deep in 3D printing for more than 3 years now. Not to brag, but I've got a blog, a YouTube channel, a book, and have taught 3D printing design to youth and adults. I've designed board games, game pieces, game accessories, and a freaking awesome chess set. I've been using 3D printing to produce custom items and shipped them to customers around the world.
3D printing isn't free, and it takes some finesse to design for economical 3D printers. Pieces designed within the limitations can be manufactured by 3D printing for an order of magnitude less than traditional manufacturing.
Risks and challenges
3D printing is awesome and produces better parts than many people believe. There are some limitations compared to traditional manufacturing, the biggest one is time. There may be a significant back log.
I am committed to getting everyone the sets they order. I've done my homework. My backups have backups. I have a positive attitude and I'm surrounded by people who are constantly making sure I've thought of everything I can to be prepared.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
