3DPhotoWorks Invites You to Become Part of Blind History.
Since the invention of braille nearly 200 years ago, advocates for the Blind have worked to improve access to the written word. Today, that access is nearly immediate.
"While sight is not a prerequisite to success, equal access to information is. The next great frontier in achieving this goal is access to images, not merely words describing them. As a blind father with both blind and sighted children, it thrills me that my family will be able to explore and appreciate great works of art, photographs, and other images together.” Mark Riccobono, President, National Federation of the Blind
Your Pledge of $5.00 or more can make this dream a reality by helping 3DPhotoWorks expand our production capabilities and implement our recently patented 3D Tactile Fine Art Printing Process to provide the Blind and Sight Impaired with access to art and photography.
What would your life be like without art? Without photographs? Without any images at all? For the Blind, that's all they know.
- There are 285 million Blind and Sight Impaired men, women and children worldwide.
- In the U.S., 1 person goes blind every eleven minutes.
3DPhotoWorks has devoted 7 years to developing technology that converts any painting, drawing, collage or photograph to a 3D Tactile Fine Art Print. Our prints have length, width, depth and texture. Using their fingertips, the Blind experience our prints through tactile feedback. This process allows them, as they tell it, "see" the art. This feedback helps creates a "mental picture" that they envision in their mind.
"Our goal is to make the world's greatest art and greatest photography available to Blind people at every museum, every science center and every cultural institution, first in this country and then beyond." John Olson, Co-Founder, 3DPhotoWorks

3D Tactile Fine Art Prints have significant depth and texture that provide the Blind with tactile feedback down to the "brush stroke".
How we will use your Pledge.
3DPhotoWorks has devoted 7 years to developing and refining 3D Tactile Fine Art Printing. The company has completed 2 years of one-on-one research and focus group testing with Blind and Sight Impaired volunteers from the National Federation of the Blind. We are well beyond concept, beyond prototype and are currently manufacturing 3D Tactile Fine Art Prints in limited quantity. The company has recently been awarded it's first museum contract for Blind and Disabled visitors.
This past summer the company was granted its first patent and has patent applications pending in 7 countries worldwide.
While our current level of production has served us well through our R&D phase, to fulfill future requirements we need to expand.
Your Pledge will be used to grow our production capabilities and add technology and staff. As we transition from R&D mode to manufacturing mode we need additional fabricating and printing equipment, computers, technicians and space.
Furthermore, your Pledge can have immediate impact. Pledge $5000, $7500 or $10,000 or more and select your favorite art and we will donate a 3D Tactile Fine Art version of it to the museum of your choosing in your name or in the name of a person you designate. This is a great way to assist 3DPhotoWorks, the Blind and your favorite museum, science center or cultural institution with one stroke of the pen. Please note, to avoid possible copyright infringement, a licensing agreement may be required. We are happy to help with licensing and permissions.
Funding that exceeds our goal of $500,000.
If funding exceeds our minimum goal of $500,000 we will scale our production infrastructure AND our deliverables to the Blind in direct proportion to the total dollars received.
Your Pledge will be used to make 3D Tactile Fine Art Printing available in quantity to every museum, science center and cultural institution, first in this country and then beyond.

Risks and challenges
3DPhotoWorks has devoted 7 years to the development of 3D Tactile Fine Art Printing for the world's Blind population. We are years beyond concept and prototype. We are currently delivering limited quantity 3D Tactile Fine Art Prints. Our greatest risk is that demand exceeds our production capability. The purpose of this Kickstarter campaign is to overcome that risk and to expand our production capabilities and our reach to fulfill the needs of the 285 million Blind and Sight Impaired worldwide. Once funding has been secured, our production capabilities are scalable. Within 120 days we will be capable of producing at a much higher volume than at present. Should funding exceed our minimum goal of $500,000 we will scale our production infrastructure AND our deliverables to the Blind through museums, science centers and cultural institutions in direct proportion to the total dollars received.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
