Have you ever wondered why wheel sensors use magnets?

To measure speed from distance,... by wheel revolution,... with 360-degree precision of 7 feet (2 meters).

The new VeloComputer 9-axis Smart Sensor uses no magnets and measures distance with 1" inch (25 mm) precision.

This patent pending magnet-less technology eliminates a hassle adjusting the magnet on a spoke every time cyclist mounts the wheel. The new VeloComputer 9-axis Smart Sensor is practically invisible, almost weightless, and always on when you are on your bike.

Hi, 

My name is Vlad Savchenko. I am the founder of SoundOfMotion - the creator of the VeloComputer 9-axis Smart Sensors.

We invested 7 years in research and development before inventing this magnet-less sensor. After releasing 4 versions of high precision sensors in the past we've received a valuable feedback. The new sensor requires no calibration, yet still delivers high precision measuring distance, spot speed and acceleration. 

As you can see from the video we have a working prototype and are ready to go into production.

The sensor's firmware can be changed on a dime via Bluetooth wireless file transfer using Android or iPhone app.

VeloComputer HUB firmware features:  

  • Supports standard Bluetooth Smart or ANT+ cycling speed profile for full wheel revolution - 360-degree precision or 7 feet (2 meters)  
  • Works with iPhone and Android 4.3+ smartphones
  • Works with Garmin watches and other ANT+ devices 
  • Supports 1" inch precision for distance, speed and acceleration profiles (available in VeloComputer app on Android or iPhone) 
  • 300 hours of continuous use on a single coin cell CR2032 battery

VeloComputer SEAT firmware features: 

  • Supports standard Bluetooth Smart or ANT+ cycling cadence profile for full wheel revolution - 360-degree precision or 7 feet (2 meters)
  • Works with iPhone and Android 4.3+ smartphones 
  • Works with Garmin watches and other ANT+ devices 
  • Supports road grade % profile (available in VeloComputer app on Android or iPhone)

SDK

We'd love to share our success with other developers. Using our SDK you can create other solutions measuring various motion with 9-axis smart motion sensor platform. 

Running, swinging, swimming or jumping - you are limited only by your imagination.

Risks and challenges

We have excellent manufacturing partner which has already produced the first batch of sensors for testing. The quality of assembly is excellent.

The only concern is the availability of components. When we raise funds this will allow us to purchase a reel of critical components. MOQ (minimum order quantity) is 5000 - the size of a single reel.
