Over 2 years ago we released the original 3D Printer Test Kit! At that time we had set out to help people better manage their expectations about their 3D Printer, and the materials they were printing with. - The kit consisted of 8x fast printing, unique test prints that focused on the various characteristics that define a successful 3D print. Here's what the original set looked like...
Now we are setting out to improve upon what we developed and create the world's most reliable, and community relevant 3D Printer Test Kit!
Along with the focus on sharing results that I'll detail below, 3D Printer Test Kit 2.0 will feature 8x, newly designed test chips that will simulate various printing conditions that your 3D printer may encounter. In addition, each chip will be optimized to 3D print in about 30 mins, yet still maintain plenty of relevant surface data. - These chips should prove to be very helpful in the calibrating of your 3D printer and in the efficient testing of new printing materials that you may be interested in experimenting with.
The 8x Newly Designed Test Chips Will Focus On These 3D Print Characteristics:
- Edges: What sharp edges can be achieved on your 3D Printer?
- Spikes: Quickly test the size of teeth or sharp details that can be reliably printed on your 3D printer.
- Voids: A great tool for calibrating SLA printers, and testing FDM printers on how small a void can be before it begins to be sealed shut.
- Flexibility: See the flexibility that a 3D print can maintain in various materials, and with various printer settings.
- Text Positive/Negative: Test legibility of 3D printed text at various sizes in positive and negative space.
- Bridging: See how your 3D printer and slicing program manage various unsupported gaps in a 3D print.
- Hinge Horizontal (Print-in-Place): Concealed hinges with various overhangs to manage.
- Hinge Vertical (Print-in-Place): Concealed hinges with various tolerances test fusing potentials.
Because Your Experience Matters - While printing the '3D Printer Test Kit 2.0' you will be able to post pictures of your print results and contribute to an ever-growing library of results through the use of hashtags.
A unique hashtag will be designated for each of the 8x test chips. Simply include these hashtags when posting images of their corresponding test chip on social media websites like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Your images, results, and thoughts will then be instantly accessible to anyone who searches for that hashtag.
Accountability Through Community - With enough contributions from testers like yourself, you will be able to 'shop' through the various posted results and identify the type(s) of printers that may work best for you. Additionally, This will also be a means for you to possibly identify materials that you would prefer to work with.
We are aiming to create the best 3D Printer Test Kit available! - If you decide to review the posted results of fellow testers before you make that next big 3D Printer purchase, than we will have definitely achieved our goals.
We Strive To Create The Best 3D Printing Experiences Possible - To date, 3DKitbash.com has created a healthy library of over 30x unique, fast-printing, and artfully-designed test chips that are optimized for educating the user while also helping to minimize material waste and time spent. - We are excited to continue this trend with 3D Printer Test Kit v2.0!
We are looking forward to continuing our pursuit of educationally-minded test prints with 3D Printer Test Kit 2.0! Please review the Backer Levels and consider joining our community of testers and explorers. ...and as always: please share this campaign. Thanks everyone, Quincy
