About

Print your little army units and hexes ....
With this campaign you get printable stl-files !

Welcome to my next campaign. I hope my old Grognards are not annoying, this time it is not about buildings. But maybe my faithful backers and  followers will also enjoy a break ;-)

Let me start by telling you a little story. At some point I bought the GMT board game Commands and Colors on the Crisis in antwerp. The game is a fast wargame game - hex field based - that you learn in a relatively short time and that can be played pretty fast. The rules, command cards and game is very nicely done. The presentation of the units is solved in such a way, that they are glued on small wooden blocks of the units to distinguish them. Landscape hexfields, villages, rivers and mountains are printed on cardboard hexes.

However, I could not quite make friends with wooden blocks as troops. Many gamers use 6mm or 15mm figures for this game. Since I had no desire to make for this game armies in 6mm or 15mm, I went another way.
l guess you know which. I simply printed out the army and hex fields. Now at Commands and Colors, I finally feel the command of troops and it's real wargaming. It is really nice to see how the troops are standing in the field, real small trees and houses can be seen.

Every year, with my friends Andreas, Heiko and Ralf, I take a tour of historic sites in Europe. Whether it is the coast of normandy or the bunkers of the maginot line, or for example the Waterloo battlefield. We always find a place to visit. Of course, the fun is not too short. So it happens that we make one or the other wargame between beer and barbeque.

Here we were in France and tested my printed army with Commands and Colors. I have to say, it was fantastic !!

When we showed this variation in some german forums, there was a big demand and we asked to bring this kind of figures to the market. That would not have been an approach for me. But now, with the growing number of users of 3d printers, i can realize this plan.

The first look at the concept drawings may sound like they are little nutcracker figures. That may be true, but please do not forget, the figures units are printed quite small and believe me, the appearance on the game board actually acts as if there were small soldiers, forests, villages and farmsteads.

In any case, through this campaign, you will get material into your hand with which you can completely exchange the wooden blocks and printed hexes.

However, I would advise anyone anyway who does not have the game Commands and Colors to get this game. it's really worth it.

However, we do not have to use these little army and terrain hex fields just for Commands and Colors. You can use this mini-armies also for other rules.

That's where I come to the next point. My friend Andreas - a very ambitious wargamer - has written his own rules for this small army and terrain hexfields. It's compressed, fast learning and more importantly, it's fast to play. He lays emphasis on saying that it's not a wargame simulation, it's a game !!

If you are a all in backer, you will get this rules.
We have that rules in German language and in English !!

I plan to open a discussion group to mention the rules and perhaps to optimize. For those who want to do more in the direction of simulation, the community can expand the rules.

As I said at the beginning, the figures are designed so that they are printed very small. That means they are very abstracted.

But if we reach certain stretchgoals, I will design figures in such a way that we can print clearly recognizable playing figures. Who owns a very good printer (SLA or DLP), one or the other figure will be able to mix with his classic wargame characters. But see the printed examples with FFM-Printers. They are also look pretty.

Of course, my characters will not get quality to the plastic and metal figure producers and there will be not much variants, but certainly there will be use for it.

But I go with my little units one step further .. I will also position the soldiers on standard base sizes. e.g. we can use a base width of 40mm. The small soldiers on such a base, will give visually a very sizable army unit. Maybe you need units for test games, but do not want to buy or paint figures.

You do not have to paint them, because for the corresponding nation I simply choose the filament ...

I am very excited. I would be glad if you accompany me in this campagne and support my plans. Who knows what can come of it?

Help me realize this goal. Maybe you will help me to develop further ideas and we can make something big out of our small soldiers units ... Perhaps, if this campaign will have succes, we can start with ancient armies, medieval ....
