About this project
THE STORY - 25 YEARS IN THE MAKING - CLYDE BUTCHER: Passion & Power of Photography is a feature length biographical documentary film on Clyde Butcher, an award-winning large-format black and white landscape photographer who has brought the wild and pristine environments of Florida and the United States to the minds and hearts of America and throughout the world in order to bring attention of the need to protect and preserve their natural wonder.
Elam Stoltzfus, the producer and cinematographer for the project, has known Clyde since 1989 and has filmed him every year since they first met—in a sense, this is a documentary that is 25 years in the making. The film is targeted for a national public television release.
WHY WE ARE MAKING THIS FILMTo share Clyde Butcher’s vision to inspire and educate others through his photography about the beauty of our planet. This is a filmmaker’s biographical documentary about his mentor. Travel along with us through Clyde’s personal journey along with his family and friends and learn how he creates his art that has inspired generations. As a Public Television-length documentary film, we will use interviews from Clyde’s family members as well as national policy makers and internationally recognized conservationists who collectively understand the importance of our environment as we tell a universal story of one man’s journey through love, loss and life.

Risks and challenges
This is an all-or-nothing campaign. Yes, it's risky, but we believe in this project and think that there are enough people who will rally with us to reach our goal.
Risks and challenges include first and foremost getting the full amount of funding on Kickstarter to make the project. A big challenge is going to be sorting through all the archival images and photos and converting it into video format.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE DON’T REACH OUR GOAL
If we don't reach our goal no rewards will be sent, and you will not be charged. You are only charged if we meet or exceed our goal. We must reach or exceed our goal or this film will not be made.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE GO OVER OUR GOAL
We are asking for the bare minimum amount of money we need to finish this film. If we exceed our goal, we will use those funds to bring this comprehensive documentary to the highest level of excellence possible. One of our target goals is to have the film featured on PBS American Masters, and we would use Kickstarter funding to pursue this goal.
