This movie was inspired by one Creative Writing class at Gonzaga University taught by Father Steve Kuder SJ. It was the first time a teacher allowed me to write without being graded for punctuation. It was the English Class that changed my life.
Carl Jung wrote, "The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves." A Breath To Survive is a literary and narrative journey about the meaning of this moment in life.
LIsa Wakana quits her job, unplugs from society, and begins a personal creative journey. She evolves in a step by step, natural progression, turning her "to do" list into a work of spiritual poetry and song.
Lisa becomes a mentor to Sara, a teen niece in need. Their relationship culminates in an unexpected responsibility that breathes into Lisa's creativity and into her soul.
A Breath To Survive, is shot and edited complete with Surround Sound on Blu Ray. The problem is, Hollywood suggested we shoot an opening scene that will engage the audience and garner more compassion for Lisa Wakana, our main character. We agree, this scene is necessary. Currently the movie begins after Lisa quits her job. The new scene will be shot in the hustle and bustle of the banking loan offices, as we witness Lisa quitting her job, packing her belongings into a box, and being escorted out of the bank.
We previously raised enough Kickstarter funds to hire an Emmy Award Winning sound designer, David Van Slyke from CSI, who has finished our Surround Sound Design. Our top notch colorist, Mel Matsuoka at Montaj9, has finished the color and is converting our Red One 4.5K into 2K Blu Ray images.

Risks and challenges
Our risks and challenges are easier to deal with than most. Our film was already shot and edited, and we stayed on schedule. We have the support of Hawaii Media Inc, who already provides gear for Hawaii 5-0 and numerous feature films shot in Hawaii. Our volunteer crew are top notch professionals who often want to help make art and provide themselves an opportunity to grow in the film industry.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
