Established in 2014, we are a pinball co-op that offers a large scale collection (30) of pinball machines consistently open for public play. What is a pinball co-op? We are a group of pinball enthusiasts that realized the only way Connecticut will have a place to enjoy the hobby is if we set up a location ourselves. So that's exactly what we did.
We collectively put all 30 pinball machines from our private collections into a warehouse space located in Meriden, CT. We maintain all of our machines to a high standard to consistently play as they should. We host competitive events from tournaments to weekly league play. We also encourage those who just want to play some pinball for fun to come join us.
With 30 machines and more players showing up weekly, we need more room! Our current location is roughly 1000 sf. and simply will not allow us to grow any further. We are aiming to move our facility to a 2200 sf. warehouse in the same building. This will help us expand our abilities to hold more games and have more players involved. Let's keep growing pinball in Connecticut and beyond!
With this move we will incur a number of expenses that have up until now been mostly out of pocket. The list of upgrades includes but not limited to the following. Updating electrical for proper game setup. Updating lighting for anti glare. Updating AC units in order to keep the facility comfortable. Insurance costs. Build out of the new unit to fit our needs. Internet upgrade. Furniture. Floor mats. Rent and Security.
We are asking for your help to continue growing this amazing hobby so that people can reconnect with a lost part of their youth, and younger generations can enjoy a true national pastime that at one point came close to disappearing. We are at a time when more pinball machines are being produced each year, and more tournaments are being organized across the country. We will continue to provide pinball to the community by hosting well organized tournaments and having more open nights for casual players. If you're a part of the pinball community please show your support. If you are new to the hobby we welcome you. Pitch in and participate, and you will not be disappointed.
We greatly appreciate all of the support we've had over the past year. Many people have dedicated a ton of time and effort, and for that we cannot thank you enough. This endeavor has reached a size that we can no longer support financially on our own. We need your donations to make The Sanctum bigger and better than we had ever imagined. I can promise that we will give back to the hobby as much as we possibly can.
If we are successful with our current goal, we have a ton of other great ideas we hope to implement far down the road currently, that we can put up as stretch goals. Things like complete camera setup for streaming all the machines and the facility during weekly meet ups, tournaments, game repair nights and tech talk. Lounge area improvements and amenities as well.
8/13- Our first stretch goal is to purchase a camera setup for each bank of games on a rail system so we can stream any game we want at any time. We will stream games every night we are open and follow top seed games in our tournaments and leagues. We will also stream when we are working on games and explain what we are doing and what we are hunting down. If you've ever seen any papa.tv broadcasts or streams of major tournaments that's what we are shooting for.
The goal is to reach 7000$. If we hit that goal we will throw in a Koozie(or a second one if already included) into any reward starting at the 35$ level and going up.
Let's shatter this goal so we can throw up some more! We can make this place as awesome as you'll help us too! Let us know if you have any suggestions for improvements in our new spot.
In a weeks time we reached the stretch goal of a live streaming setup! Now everyone will be able to enjoy everything we do here even if you can't be here.
For our next stretch goal if we get to 8000$ we will upgrade our announcement system of a bullhorn and small TV screen. We'd love to upgrade to a PA system for better communication with all our players when all the games are running and swap out the TV for a projector to fit all players standings and info on the wall during our events and tournaments.
We are so thrilled with all the support and can't wait to present the new Sanctum to everyone.
We've hit our last goal again with plenty of time left! Thanks again for all the help.
Our next goal is $10,000 to setup up a repair and maintenance shop. Our hope is to have enough spare parts and tools on hand with all the proper tools to get games back online as soon as they go down. We don't want to have any downtime on games. We know how much that bums everyone out. We have been working with a lot of our part vendors to help us out with keeping fresh parts on hand and keep these games running in top shape consistently. This combined with our streaming setup we can do regular tech nights to help everyone to learn how to repair there own games and start doing local repair nights for the community in the future.
Risks and challenges
We are looking to move into the new space by 9/1/15, and currently on schedule to do so. We've moved most of the 30 machines once before. We'll do it again!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
