What is this "Cirque du Horror ?"

Cirque du Horror is a Halloween-themed musical featuring some of the very best of Denton's home grown talent, along with some of the very finest artists and musicians from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. It is a little fright, and a little laughter, with a touch of eye of newt and tail of rat. Created with the sole intention of providing Halloween entertainment that is equally captivating to both young and old alike, Cirque is a delightful descent into the macabre. It is a 100% original collection of bone chilling poems, spine-tingling short stories and spooky songs, devilishly accompanied by the Orchestra of the Undead ( a 17-piece orchestra of musicians donned in skeleton garb ) guaranteed to have you jump from your chair with fright, split your sides with laughter, and raise every hair on the back of your neck!

Our Goal :

Cirque du Horror is in it's 3rd year of production. With very humble beginnings, the show debuted on Halloween night 2009. It was met with overwhelming success, and year two brought three shows over the Halloween weekend, each night boasting a sold out performance. So...why the kickstarter this year? Because we are knocking down the walls and taking the show to the streets! In the efforts to preserve the ambience that only beautiful downtown Denton Tx can provide, the Cirque du Horror musical will now headline an all day Festival the last Saturday in October, with 2 FREE evening performances on Industrial Street, only steps away from the venue where it all began, Dan's Silverleaf.

Where the money goes :

As you might imagine, two outdoor performances means a MUCH bigger show area, and with that comes a much, MUCH bigger budget. All the proceeds will go to set design and props, costumes, stage rental, sound and light rental, not to mention a few coins thrown the way of roughly 40+ actors, dancers, and musicians. The performances, as well as the festival itself, will be free to the public, and we intend to keep things that way. This is why we need your help! This is a big step for us, but once we get through this first year, we feel certain Cirque will have the notoriety needed to gain the trust of "big time" sponsors as the show grows and grows, year after year.

Some very nice things people are saying about Cirque du Horror :

"(CDH) is the start of something wonderful and just a bit macabre, with atmospheric, cinematic, and animated orchestrations." ~ DRC

"(CDH) recaptures the true spookiness and fun of this ghostly holiday" ~ Dallas Observer

"The real star of the show here was Pierce's music...he's a mature writer with an enviable kid's imagination and curiosity." ~ DRC

"Scary yes...scary good." ~ FW Weekly
