Android and More!

Hey Backers!

Production and Shipping Update

This will most likely be my last production-related update for you all, as I’m happy to announce that we are manufacturing the PowerUp modules faster than anticipated. With over 50 people working on assembly, we are now producing over 1,000 modules per day! And as you may have seen on our Facebook page, the first bulk shipment has arrived at our fulfillment center in Hong Kong. Exactly 7,705 orders are shipping out this week, and all shipments should be on their way in the next 3 weeks! Thank you for your continued patience and support.

You can expect an email with your personal tracking number in the next few weeks to see where your package is on its journey to your doorstep!

Stretch Goal Update

As a refresher, our stretch goals during funding were, respectively: developing the Android app, multi-engine mode, and dogfight mode. The latter two are still in development and will be added through future firmware updates, but we are thrilled to announce that the Android app is officially in the Google Play store and ready for use! Android users, please keep in mind that this is a brand new technology, and testing has been minimal to this point, so in many ways you are helping us Beta test this app. Any feedback you may have regarding the Android app’s functionality can be submitted to our support – and would be greatly appreciated!

Before you get your module…

I encourage all of you to do a couple of things while you wait for your reward:

Learn: Check out the PowerUp 3.0 User Guide, this will be very helpful prior to liftoff, it includes all the stuff you need to know to get the most out of your PowerUp 3.0!

Practice: Origami 101, master your folding skills with the recommended airplane designs.

When you get your module…

Now that you are ready for take off, for the best flying experience, choose a none windy day and look for a great flying location, I recomend a large grassy park. Follow the step by step airplane preflight and flight procedures as explained in the user guide.

Share: Once you get the hang of it, head to our Facebook page and share your experience! A video, a picture, even a quick review would go a long way in sharing your love and appreciation with the PowerUp community. There is also a sharing function within the PoweUp App where you can load your PowerUp experience directly to social media!

I flew #powerup3 and it was awesome!

I’m so excited to finally get the PowerUp 3.0 into your hands and into international skies. Can’t wait to hear what you all think!

Happy Flying,

      what can i do ?

    2. Mathieu GHENNASSIA on July 11, 2014

I always face plant too. I'm gonna try another folding way.
How the up-down is controlled? When I go up or down with my phone, I don't see anything moving on the plane.

Well Nordes, you're not alone. I too have not even received a tracking number

    4. Jeremie Audran on July 10, 2014

Ce to realize it never actually charged as my MacBook Air does not output enough power. I used an third party micro USB charger and did the job. More after tonight next test flight.

    5. Jeremie Audran on July 10, 2014

Got mine all setup, followed instruction and went for a test flight at the local park, but always face plants and now it will not charge.

The module will no longer turn or charge, I used the module for a total of 20 minutes and it is now gone.

      Any troubleshooting advice?

    6. Nordes Lamarre on July 10, 2014

I haven't received anything (even e-mail) about the shipping. Am I the only one who have this issue? :)

Mine always did a face plant in the grass. Tested the paper plane it flew perfectly.... Impossible to fly with the module on. It broke in 2 on the 3d try. Sent an email to creator for warranty replacement...still waiting on reply after 2 days.

      Pleasant surprise.
Got my PowerUp3 a few days ago, sans tracking.
Made Avenger and Nakamura, charged, mated with iOS app and all looks well.
      Can't wait to fly.
Lost the little locking tab - just flew off onto the floor and then went into a hidden dimension.

I got my tracking number on July 1st, but since then all I have is:

July 1, 2014 , 4:25 am Arrived Shipping Partner Facility HEBRON, KY 41048

No updates since July 1 and no Powerup, so I'm beginning to get concerned (I live in Portland Oregon)..

    11. Edward Farkhiev on July 7, 2014

Had to do a factory reset (which cost me a lot of game progress losses) and upgraded to 4.2 and I still can't get the app. This sucks.

My phone is a GS4 and the OS is up to date but I can't get the app for some reason even though the Kickstarter list of devices include my phone. Is there another app to get or a way to update the OS somehow?

      @Eric Blankenhorn
Q - While the fast blink never stops. After 45 mins I took it off, but the battery was only at 20%.
A - As described in the user guide page 11 - turn on the Smart module and only then plug the micro USB for charging the Module. If you plug in the micro USB while the module is off it may blink but will not charge. We are aware that this sequence is confusing, it will be corrected in our future production versions.

Q - How do I find my tracking number?
A - Tracking number will be sent to you when reward is in transit to your shipping destination.

Q - Any chances the app. coming on Windows phone ?
      A - Currently not.

Never got a shipping notice but I got mine today! Stoked to try it but just a heads up...the paper in mine was crinkled up and bent. Obviously I can use other paper but just something to talk with your manufacturer about.

Play store says app is incompatible with Samsung Galaxy Nexus (running 4.3), with no reason why. Any ideas? =(

Any chance this will be added to the Amazon App Store as well? Would be great to have working on Kindle Tablets as well. Maybe you (or someone) could post the APK somewhere for backers to sideload onto devices?

    22. Prashant Vaibhav on June 30, 2014

@James, thanks for sending the crash reports, the bug is fixed. Wait for the Friday update.

    23. Phuong Nguyen on June 30, 2014

Installed the app on Nexus 5. Seems to run well, no crash.

One feedback though can we get an explicit power off/exit button. I find that even when i exit the app (via the back key), it is still running in the back ground searching bluetooth and eating battery.

Thanks for your hard work. Looking forward to my shipment.

I installed this on my Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (2013), but on the Nexus 7 the text does not show up in the right place.

Also do you have a letter sized version of the invader PDF?

    25. Lim Jian Nan on June 29, 2014

Install to my LG G2 with Android Version 4.4.2 (KitKat). It look fine. Waiting for my module to try it.

    26. James on June 29, 2014

Just installed on my Galaxy S4 running Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). Says it installed successfully, but when I run it, I just get a blank screen for 10-12 seconds, then it crashes. I know Android 4.4 (KitKat) is available, but the main page says only 4.3 is required. Sent a crash report, hope you guys are able to fix this before the modules are delivered. I'll try uninstalling, updating to KitKat, then reinstalling this week and see if that fixes it.

    27. hehheh on June 29, 2014

I can't install either, I think the problem is that android kitkat is not yet released on my S4 mini and on many other models, it should come in next month, hopefully before PowerUp arrives..

    28. royblumenthal on June 29, 2014

I've just installed the Android app on my Galaxy Note 2. No hassles, and it's running well.

It's possible that yours isn't installing on your devices due to modifications you may have made to your Rom. Do you have a custom Rom?

If you do, the culprit will almost certainly be screen density. I've had that as a problem before. If this is indeed the problem, you'll need to set the screen density for the PowerUp app to 'normal' or 'stock' density. (There is an Xposed plugin that gives you per-app control of such things.)

If you don't have a custom Rom, chances are the above info will be complete gobbledegook, and it won't apply. It also means I don't know what is preventing your devices from installing the app.

      I hope I've been helpful.

I personally live in HK. Just wondering is my order gonna be shipped from there?

    30. MF Calub on June 29, 2014

Thanks Shai! This has been one of the more pleasurable KS experience I've had. You've really planned this well right from the very beginning. Thank-you and good luck!

    31. Leon on June 29, 2014

Great update. One question: When trying to download the Android app from Google store it tells me that it's incompatible with all of my devices (and therefore doesn't let me download) - I have Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, and a Galaxy 4 8.0 Tablet - is this really a compatibility issue? Or was it just incorrectly listed in the store? Perhaps devs could fix? When I get my kit, I'd like to be able to use the app!

Looking forward to playing with the Powerup :)

Please make sure to have the bill or something else on the outside of the package that clearly identifies its contents, otherwise it may not make it through customs in many countries, such as Germany. It has happened to me before with other kickstarter projects...

      Hello guys,
      Good news!
I really need to talk with you before you send me my kit :)
I sent some messages to your team but no answer that we solve the problem.
