As elegant and simple as docks may look, it took many months to refine the design, test it, and also setup a supply chain for manufacturing. If you are interested in these details, please read on...
It started with initial conceptual sketches and 3D CAD design of a few concepts. The best design was selected and 3D printed to get a hands-on feel and test functionality.
This design was further refined and tested. Complete manufacturing specifications were created.
Manufacturing partners were evaluated until we found one that was a great fit for this product. Aluminium prototypes were CNC machined and further small design tweaks were made to improve the final product and efficiency of manufacturing.
With a design locked with a final bill of materials, each component was sourced with lead-times including expenses for all capital tooling, fixtures, or special processes required. Also consideration was taken to ensure docks met and exceeded all industry standard environmental regulations.

Risques et défis
Being a mechanical engineer and having worked as a product design engineer for over 8 years, I've helped bring numerous complex consumer and industrial products to full scale production and into the marketplace. On each project there are always challenges.
I started LEMA Inc. so I could create great everyday products, and since docks will be our first product released, I want it to exceed expectations. The design work is complete, now it is about securing raw materials in volume to keep costs low and then starting manufacturing. Therefore with my experience I will be very involved with our manufacturing partners throughout the production and delivery phase to ensure docks is produced in high-quality and delivered on-time.
With that said no matter how good of a project plan you have, sometimes unexpected surprises can occur with logistics, raw material supply, tooling issues, new production fixtures problems, customs clearances, etc. which can affect lead-times. I will resolve any such surprises or technical issues quickly and efficiently together with my experienced team. I will also continually push all our fantastic suppliers and manufacturing partners so that delivery is with the high quality I expect and on-time.
