What do we want? Money!

When do we want it? Now!

Who wants it? Us!

Why do we want it? To make a film!

How do we get it? With your support!

We have a film that we want to share with you and we want to tell a story that we think is worth telling. With your dollars, you’ll be helping us create a short film that we hope transforms the way we think and forces us to question our reality.

WHAT IS THE FILM ABOUT?

“The worst mistake you can make is to think you're alive, when you're really just asleep in life's waiting room. The trick is to combine your waking rational abilities with the infinite possibilities of your dreams. Because, if you can do that, you can do anything.” (Waking Life, Linklater 2001)

Our story is a familiar story. It follows two friends over the span of a Saturday afternoon as they both succumb to their own personal flaws. The film draws on what it's like to be lost in your late twenties, observations of the world and the importance of self-reflection. We want to tell a story that engages critical thinking and leads to further conversations about what it's like to live honestly. As filmmakers and as human beings we are opening our minds and our hearts as we delve into the ideas that matter to us.

THE CHARACTERS

"You probably never gave it a thought, but all great films, without exception, contain an important element of no reason. And you know why? Because life itself is filled with no reason." (Rubber, Dupieux 2011)

Best friends, KEVIN and HARPER, are a couple of city dwellers who live together. They go about their day-to-day in opposing ways. Kevin grinds through a 9-5 job which keeps him financially stable, but unfulfilled. He observes his world with a god-like perspective, keeping to himself and recording his thoughts into a sound recorder; hoping one day his ideas will spark a creative endeavour. Harper on the other hand, lives in survival mode. She does not adhere to social norms and finds money where she can, just making ends meet. Her mantra is to live in the moment and get what you can, while you can. The two bump heads constantly as Kevin’s internal nature clashes with Harper’s external nature. But nevertheless, friends stick together.

WHAT WE NEED HELP WITH

"Now that I look into your eyes, I realize you’re the same as me, Just wanted to be free, And when we look into the skies, We realize it just can’t be, You’ll never be free." (The Feels, Segall 2014).

We have a great crew, we have a great story and a great cast, but we are still short on funding. The money raised will help Marc, Lexi and Nathan to make this film and the characters look amazing. It will help Kathlyn, Seb and Luke to secure locations, make sure everyone gets fed, find necessary transportation and a million other things! Lastly, it will help Lee bring to life a film that has been sitting in his back pocket for way too long. So, here’s the deal:

We would be honoured for you to join our film, whether that means getting a Special Thanks in the credits or becoming an Executive Producer, anything helps. We are excited to be telling a story that is so familiar and honest to ourselves that we want to share that experience with you.

You can also help us by sharing this page on your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or pass it along to anyone who may be interested. Thank you!

Risks and challenges

We are shooting at the end of March/early April (in Toronto, ON) so our biggest challenge is keeping people warm for our exterior on location shoots. To overcome this, we will need to find suitable locations for holding to ensure we are prepared for whatever weather comes our way.

There's always a risk when pursuing your passions, but it's an even bigger risk not to. We are thrilled to share this adventure with you all!
