About

What and who is FLC International?

I hope you watched the video!  Otherwise, read below and then refer back to our video.  Thank you!

FLC International makes bold clothes for bold men. Our flagship product the Jorge Short is handmade from premium fabrics with exotic prints, found only in the Gold Coast region of West Africa.  The shorts are named after our friend Jorge Odoi, who seizes every opportunity to live. FLC International is a reflection of this attitude.

Our Current product line

If you would like to receive information about getting this set-up in your boutique, please contact us at info@flcinternational.com.

Meet Fred & Max - The founders of FLC International

Meet Jorge - The inspiration, the guy from Ghana.

Meet Siddiq - The tailor with the vision.

Meet Nana - She gets the job done when we can't be in Ghana.

A Two-Part Project

  • We are creating a Fall 2011 line to fully describe the lifestyle that our brand represents, shown in our current Summer line. We are adding button-down shirts, blazers, and pants to the mix while keeping them all limited-edition and handmade like the Jorge Shorts. The final product will be shown in our Fall 2011 Lookbook.
  • To create this line our tailors in Ghana need some more equipment, specifically a double-stitch machine. It's crazy what they create with simple equipment, but we'd like to bling out Siddiq's shop a bit. They will be able to use this equipment, not only to streamline our production, but for their own local projects as well.

A couple drawings of the blazer concept.  We are also going to line them with cool prints!

What does FLC have to offer you?

expect to receive everything from your incentive level and lower!

Where will all the money go?

Air travel - $4,000

  • Travelling back to Ghana is essential to making this project.
  • Fred will work closely with the tailors.
  • Max will handle operations so that less trips will be needed.
  • We also plan to capture great footage of this trip to help tell our story and introduce the world to our great friends in Ghana.

Misc. Travel Expenses - $500

  • We stay at a friend's home and eat with the family when we are in Ghana, but transportation around the city can get quite expensive. We promise to manage this responsibly.

Equipment - $1500

  • Siddiq, the head tailor gets to go shopping.  We know he needs a double-stitch machine but we plan on surprising him with the opportunity to buy more essential items. We'll keep you updated on what he chooses to do with the extra cash!

Fall 2011 Lookbook - $1000

  • Materials and sewing cost for full size sets of 5 styles of button-down shirts, 1 style of blazer, and 2 styles of pants. Don't worry, we are pros at no-budget photoshoots! It's easy when you live the FLC lifestyle.

Refurbishing a School*

  • We want to incentivize everyone to help us reach or goal by refurbishing a primary education school in Ghana with any excess proceeds. It only costs $4,000 - $5,000 dollars to fully refurbish a school with plumbing and a concrete floor. If you help us fly past our goal and reach $11,000 we will refurbish a school in everyone's name that donated and commemorate the building with all your names on a plaque. You are giving children hope and a reason to be at school, keeping them off the streets. The more money we receive in excess of the goal, the more we will put to these efforts. Our friend Jorge also manages philanthropy projects and currently has adopted two schools, so we will have the perfect partner for this effort.

*This is a gray area with Kickstarter's no causes or charities rules.  First and foremost the project will be completed, but we aren't just going to sit on any extra cash raised. We must be clear that raising extra money for philanthropy is not part of the project, just an incentive for you to help.

What is the future of FLC International?

The Look

and Feel

We currently only distribute through our e-commerce store, but FLC is making new connections everyday and is starting the grab the attention of the right people. We've received invites to wholesaling events for menswear and potential distribution partners are beginning to inquire.  This is the tipping point that will lead to a larger scale operation and distribution to boutique stores around the nation. Kickstarter is an important part of this tipping point and pushing our brand forward.  You are a part of history by being on this page. We have some world class advisers with deep industry and start-up experience. Success, we are confident of, but we are not only after monetary success. We will continue to manufacture in Ghana, supporting their developing economy, and giving back personally to the needs of primary education, initially in Ghana, and later throughout the entire developing world.

You like what you see but have no money...How can you be involved?

Anybody that shares our Kickstarter page on Facebook or Twitter and tags FLC International in their post will be entered to win a free $50 donation level incentive -- A picture of our crew in Ghana holding a sign with your name or a personalized message of your choice! -- We'll also throw in a pair of shorts and a tshirt.
