We are so excited to share our first official Maple Games Kickstarter! Peter & I first met while creating Sagrada by Floodgate Games. Peter Wocken has worked on a ton of amazing games including: Dead of Winter, Sagrada, Xia: Legends of a Drift System, and Dinosaur Island. Many of these games became possible because of Kickstarter.
For our first Maple game, we are partnering with Michael Schacht, designer of the Spiel des Jahres ("Game of the Year") winner Zooloretto. In the game Dragon Boats of the Four Seas, Michael has designed us an elegant family friendly euro game that includes bidding, set collection, and area control.
Together, we hope you will join #TeamMaple; help us publish amazing games by backing our projects and inviting friends and family to pledge too. Thanks for your help!
- Daryl Andrews (President of Maple Games)
Note: Additional dragon boats are strictly for fun - no additional gameplay function. Also, the player cloth bags are strictly for storage of player components.

What is a 'Direct' Exclusive?

However, Maple Games will reserve the opportunity to sell direct exclusive components directly with customers. Example: we may sell direct exclusive components at conventions and/or directly online. Michael Schacht was inspired by a design competition in 1992 to create and release his first games. By 2005, Michael shifted his career to full-time game design, and since then has over 200 releases with various publishers.
In 2007 Michael Schacht's game Zooloretto received the Spiel des Jahres (game of the year) in Germany. Michael lives with his wife Marianne Hartz in Frankfurt, Germany.
Peter Wocken recently left the world of freelance board game graphic design to co-found Maple Games, as the Creative Director. He has over a decade of experience working in the art and design field with such notable companies as Plaid Hat Games, Fantasy Flight Games, Pandasaurus Games, and Floodgate Games.
Peter has always loved ink wash and brushwork from China and Japan. Inspired by the art piece “River Landscape” (an ink on silk from c. 1300) and ancient legends like the Dragon King, Peter has created a beautiful tranquil setting for players to explore various islands, and expand their kingdoms to forgotten lands.
This campaign includes Customs-Friendly delivery to the US, Canada, the UK, and the EU. Customs-Friendly means, if you live in any of these regions and have any additional charges for receiving your package, simply email firstname.lastname@example.org a copy of your customs receipt and we will reimburse you via PayPal. Note: If your country is not in one of the above-mentioned regions, we cannot guarantee customs friendly shipping in these areas. (For example, Norway & Switzerland are not in the European Union.)
Be aware that all pledges confirmed after the pledge manager deadline may be shipped at a later date.
Due to the unpredictable customs practice in Brazil, we'll not cover any duty charges or other fees occurred. If the backer refuses to pay the charges or fees and the game is returned to us the backer will not be reimbursed for their order.
All shipping prices above are per unit. For the bundle of six games - expect the shipping to be approximately six times higher (x6) in price because of weight of shipping. Also, we cannot send bundles to all regions. Locations are limited.
ADD-ON INSTRUCTIONS: To add-on to your pledge, follow these steps:
- 1) Go to the Dragon Boats Kickstarter page and Press the 'Manage Your Pledge' Button above. If you have not pledged yet, it will say 'Back this Project'.
- 2) Increase your pledge in the 'Pledge Amount' box by the total of the add-ons you want to add.
- 3) Do not change the tier you are currently pledged at, unless you also want to change it while you are on this screen. You will then need to add the total of your add-ons onto the amount of the new tier you choose.
After the end of the Kickstarter campaign you will receive a survey that will ask you questions so that you can explain how you would like the add-on money assigned, and the tshirt size (Womens: S, L, XXL) (Mens: M, XL, XXXL) you want.
NOTE: All add-ons require a base pledge to be at the $53USD tier or above.
All add-ons will be delivered by Fall 2019 or sooner.

Risks and challenges
Our team has years of experience with publishing games and we work with people with impeccable track records of successfully delivering previous Kickstarter projects to thousands of supporters in a timely fashion--if not sooner.
Our commitment to building a strong, supportive community around Maple Games will enable us to also deliver this project on time and with the highest quality possible. That said, there are always complexities and considerations in a project of this scope that may cause delays. There are many steps in the process of manufacturing and fulfilling a game, many of which involve partnerships. Through careful and thorough planning, common mistakes can be avoided. However, possible delays can occur from circumstances beyond our immediate control. If such an issue is encountered, our team will adapt and no corners will be cut to course correct as needed. Our greatest obstacle is simply the funding capital to manufacture such an ambitious product. Your contribution makes this a reality!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
