Forlorn is a 30 minute short film that follows Ben Broadhurst, an aspiring photographer. When an event dramatically changes his life, his world falls apart and he now has to deal with the aftermath of the physical and psychological effects. Ben's relationship starts to fall apart as he struggles to deal with the PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) caused by what happened. Forced to seek help by his struggling girlfriend, he is unknowingly tipped over the edge by the therapist and has a psychological episode which takes an unexpected twist.
This project is a 3rd year final university project, so money is very tight because of student budgets. The film had a very small £150 budget, until we struggled to find a final location. A quick summary of why we are asking for money is that our final location has been a pain to find. We are looking for a derelict location for some of our later scenes and after spending 2 months and at least 32 locations turning us down, we found somewhere that looks the part. It has all the essentials and passes health and safety unlike all the others. The only problem is that we have to pay rent and it will come out at around £230, so we are just trying to cover our costs to be able to finish our film. Here are some images of where we wish to rent:
Risks and challenges
We have very strict guidelines when it comes to getting the project finished. As it is part of the teams undergraduate degree, it will be finished or we will not pass our Media Production degree. So there is a guarantee of it being completed.
The major challenge that the group faces is the location problem, but with the financial backing, this will no longer be a problem.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
