About this project
On October 28th the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center will invite everyone in the city to take a picture.
Participants then select their favorite image and send it to PPAC. The images can be painstakingly planned or a spur of the moment decision; regardless, PPAC will print and hang every single photo for an exhibition showcasing a day in the life of Philadelphia.
Pictures can be of any subject and can be taken with any kind of camera, even a cell phone! From point and shoot users to professionals, we want everyone!
Philly Photo Day is free and open to the public. In its inaugural year in 2010, PPAC received nearly 350 pictures. We plan to double that number this year through media sponsorship, advertisements, social media platforms and through word-of-mouth.
While Philly Photo Day is free to participate in, it is far from free to execute. What we are asking for in this Kickstarter campaign is just a small portion of the overall cost of the event. Specifically, these funds will get the show up on the wall. $3,500 covers the cost of ink, photo paper and space rental for the whole run of this show.
But we can raise more than $3,500 too! Any donation beyond our initial goal will be used to cover the costs of advertising Philly Photo Day and executing the opening reception. Your donation helps to ensure this is an all-inclusive community-wide event.

Plan to be in Philadelphia on October 28th and take a picture of anything you like. Photos must be taken within the city limits between 12:00am and 11:59 pm on the 28th. Instructions on uploading your image will be available in early October on the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center's website.
The Philly Photo Day exhibition will be up in the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center's gallery at 1400 N American St from November 10th through the 26th. The opening reception will take place on November 10th from 6-9pm.
One. You have to pick your favorite because everyone gets to submit just one photo.
Yes! The Philadelphia Photo Arts Center is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, so all donations are tax deducible to the fullest extent of the law.
