Philadelphia Photo Arts Center invites everyone in the city to be an artist for a day. Just take a photograph and send it to us. Every single picture we receive will be printed and displayed! Together, these thousands of photos will chronicle a day in the life of Philadelphia.
Simply snap a picture of anything that inspires you: your friends, your lunch, your favorite view of the city...
Not convinced? In addition to the exhibition featuring every photo we receive, we'll exhibit select photographs on 40 billboards around Philadelphia. One of those photographs could be yours!
To encourage participants in every neighborhood, we're sending teaching artists to community centers in every part of the city. They'll provide free instruction and cameras to anyone who needs them, so everyone's viewpoint can be included. Neighbors will collaborate with their teaching artists to design the city's first digital photo murals!
Last year we received 1,800 submissions. This year, we're expecting 2,500 or more! And all you need is a camera (or a phone) to join in the fun!
The Philadelphia Photo Arts Center makes Philly Photo Day available to everyone in the city for absolutely no cost to participants. We cover all expenses: ink, paper, exhibition space, teaching artists, cameras, advertising, catering , server space and staffing.
Make a donation today and be a part of this massive citywide event. Every single donation makes a difference!
Remember, take a picture on October 18th, submit it to our website and come to the Philly Photo Day exhibition, on view November 14th - December 28th.
On Philly Photo Day every inspired person can be an artist. Help us make this happen by pledging your support for Philly Photo Day 2013 and the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center today!

Risks and challenges
PPAC is happy to be working in collaboration with many cultural colleagues to help us realize our goals and minimize the risks involved in this huge undertaking. Partners like the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation, The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program and community centers throughout the city strengthen our ability to coordinate a city-wide day of collective creativity. Our biggest challenge this year will be designing and producing 20 of the city's first digital photo murals - a collaboration between neighbors and teaching artists, but we have no doubt that together we will rise to the occasion.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
