On October 26th, the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center invites everyone in Philadelphia to take a photograph. Then pick your favorite from the day and send it to us.
Every single picture we receive will be printed and hung for exhibition. For free!
Photograph your favorite Philly landmark, your block, the view from your window, your lunch, anything! We'll put all of the pictures together to create an amazing display of a day in the life of Philadelphia.
And it gets even better. We'll exhibit select photographs on buses, trains and even billboards around Philadelphia. One of those photographs could be yours!
To make Philly Photo Day even bigger and better than before, this year we're sending teaching artists to community centers all over the city. They'll provide instruction and cameras to anyone who needs them, virtually eliminating any barriers to participation.
Last year we received 900 submissions. This year, we're expecting 2,000! It's going to be one HUGE exhibition!
The Philadelphia Photo Arts Center makes Philly Photo Day available to everyone in the city for absolutely no cost to participants. We cover the cost of everything - ink, paper, exhibition space, teaching artists, cameras, advertising, catering, server space and staffing.
Make a donation today and be a part of this huge citywide event. Every single donation makes a difference!
Remember, take a picture on October 26th, submit it to our website and check out the opening reception on December 6, 2012 in the Crane Arts Building, 1400 N American St. The main exhibition, plus the bus, train and billboard exhibitions will run for the entire month of December.
For at least one day, everyone gets to be an artist. Help us make this happen by pledging your support for Philly Photo Day 2012 and the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center today!
