Planetside is a full color, 200+ page all-ages comic anthology that looks beyond the grandiose scope of more traditional science fiction stories and into the quieter moments set in those worlds. We’ve all heard tales of rebellions fighting against empires, robots rising against humanity, missions of grand exploration, and all of the heroes and villains that go along with them, but this anthology asks the question: what about everyone else? The purpose of this book is to find the people in these worlds just living their lives without taking a role in galactic conflict, and to tell their stories.
To do this, we’ve pulled together 44 incredible contributing creators, and through them we have collected 28 unique glimpses into the lives of beings across the galaxy that many of the bigger sci-fi stories may have forgotten.
Planetside is edited by Thea Ferrara and welcomes both creators and characters of all races/orientations/gender IDs/faiths/nationalities. The characters in these stories, who range from human to alien to robot to parasitic hive mind, offer us a glimpse of their lives in this book. Much like our own lives, this might mean romance or comedy, joy or sadness. Many are even deeply introspective. But all of them ring true, because even in a world of cosmic wonders, the people who live there are just like us.
Meet the amazing contributing creators of Planetside! We’ll be revealing art during the campaign and posting it in the “Sample” section at the end of the page.

Planetside Anthology is created and edited by Thea Ferrara, a transgender independent comic writer from New York. She has had work published in comic anthologies such as 1001 Knights, Valor Anthology, and Hana Doki Kira. The book will be laid out and co-designed by her partner, Grammy winning graphic designer Annie Stoll, who has been the co-creator and head designer of 1001 Knights and Hana Doki Kira.
We need your help to make this anthology real. We are paying our artists a fair page rate and that is why our kickstarter goal starts at a higher number. Any extra money made above the goal & costs of making the books will be split evenly & go directly to the artists. The more money we raise, the more we will pay the artists on top of their page rates.
Help us bring Planetside to our galaxy and score some amazing swag for yourself!

Upon successful funding, we will reveal some modest push goals. Rather than make a lot of excessive push goals, our focus will be to make as much of the money made after the goal to go directly to the contributing creators.
We’re so excited about the range of styles and depth of stories told in Planetside. Below are a few samples to get hype about. We’ll be revealing & adding more art to this section with each update.

Risks and challenges
All of our comics are complete. After we add the thank you’s the PDF will be ready to send the PDF to backers and the files off to the printers.
We will provide numerous updates throughout the process as the book is being made and prepped for mailing out. Communication with our contributors and backers is of the utmost importance to us.
We both have participated in, backed, and run kickstarters before and have learned a lot in each of the processes. We feel very confident in our ability to create and deliver an amazing final product. Although this is Thea’s first time solo editing an anthology, she has participated in several anthologies before including Valor Anthology, Hana Doki Kira and 1001 Knights, and she has worked closely with each of the contributors on this project. Annie is running the design, social media and campaign fulfillment for Planetside and has had experience on the large-scale anthology kickstarter, 1001 Knights. She has worked for both the publishing industry and music industry on large scale projects.
We will be packing and shipping Planetside ourselves, so we will keep everyone up to date and informed on all time lines.
While we don’t anticipate any major issues or delays as we have budgeted for all items, should anything happen with a delay in getting the books from our overseas printer, we will make sure backers are informed and up to date.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
