About

My project is to produce and air a commercial highlighting the danger posed by storage of Spent Nuclear Fuel Rods in a manner that leaves the Spent Nuclear Fuel Rods vulnerable to the neutrons emitted from a direct hit from a Thermonuclear Warhead (see dry cask storage).    The Spent Nuclear Fuel Rods have large quantities of U-238 which is fissionable in the presence of fast neutrons such as those emitted from a 2 stage fission-fusion warhead also know as a H-Bomb turning the Uranium 238 being stored as Spent Nuclear Fuel Rods into a third stage which would partially detonate spreading heavy radioactive fallout for thousands of square miles around any Commercial Nuclear Power Plant in which Spent Nuclear Fuel Rods are stored and are struck by a Thermonuclear Warhead.   In addition to the third stage partial detonation any neutrons that are slowed down by their passage through the packed Spent Nuclear Fuel Casks would convert Uranium 238 into Plutonium 239 which may or may not cause a supercritical reaction when drawn into the fusion reaction in the mushroom cloud (see youtube video, note how long reaction lasts).  Irregardless as to how much the presence of the Spent Nuclear Fuel Rods may amplify the yield of a detonating warhead from a ICBM the real danger is in the radioactive fallout.    A direct hit a at Commercial Nuclear Power Plant in the Midwestern United States such as the Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownsville, NE would leave a good percentage of the Midwestern Breadbasket unfarmable, this potential consequence would be mitigated by relocating Spent Nuclear Fuel Rods to a secure location such as the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository (assuming that it is ever completed).     To mitigate this consequence I have written Los Alamos National Laboratory and requested that they run a simulation to ascertain the risk of a Thermonuclear Warhead detonating over the Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownsville, NE (see Letter to Los Alamos National Laboratory)

The Objectives of my Project:

  • Hire a Nuclear Physicist to confirm or refute my theory as to how a detonating Thermonuclear Warhead would interact with the Spent Nuclear Fuel Rods stored at numerous Commercial Nuclear Power Plants across the nation
  • Produce a 30 second commercial highlighting the dangers posed by the storage of Spent Nuclear Fuel Rods onsite at our nations's (the USA) Commercial Nuclear Power Plants prior to the November Elections, asking the question: Where does Your Candidate stand on the issue of Securing Spent Nuclear Fuel Rods?
  • Pay to have the 30 second commercial aired in front of as many potential voters as reasonably possible prior to the November Elections
  • Produce a 2 minute to 5 minute youtube short highlighting the dangers posed by a detonating Thermonuclear Warhead at a Commercial Nuclear power plant.
  • Contract the services of a professional web developer to produce a companion web site, I already own the domain securespentfuelrods.org

Risks and challenges

1 Could encounter regulatory problems airing commercials

2 Networks (broadcast networks) could attempt to air commercials during times that are not prime time, will need to be specific in contract negotiations to avoid this consequence.

3 Political pressure could be brought against broadcast networks to pressure broadcast networks into not airing commercial, will need to ensure that there is a refund if commercial is not aired for any reason clause in contract to mitigate this consequence.
