There is now an EVENTS page on the official Coast City Comicon website! We'll be having pinball tournaments, Super Mario Bros. 3 tournaments, Street Fighter Roulette and we'll be recreating the Star Fox Weekend, an event that occurred in 1994, when Super Star Fox was released for the SNES!

Who are we?
We know who we are, but maybe you don't and that's okay! The answer to this existential question is fairly simple. We are Coast City Comics -- a comic and toy shop in the heart of the Arts District in Portland, Maine. Aside from comics, we sell all kinds of cool old toys, like vintage GI Joe figures and play sets, super hero toys, classic and modern video games, and t-shirts, which we design and print ourselves. What is the Coast City Comicon?
In summer of 2011, we decided to put on a comic convention in downtown Portland, Maine -- something that had never really been done before. Knowing that we wanted to have the first ever Coast City Comicon in November, we spent the summer planning, booking venues, and contacting creators, vendors, and guest speakers. With virtually no budget, we put on an amazing convention featuring 50 vendors, video game tournaments, the east coast premiere of Warren Ellis: Captured Ghosts, the release of The Exegesis of Philip K. Dick, and panels by special creative guests, including Todd Dezago, Craig Rousseau and Renae De Liz. Although the response from our 700 attendees was resoundingly positive, we knew we could do even better. The theme for this year's convention? More. We want more vendors, more guests, more panels, more special events, and we know you do, too. That's where Kickstarter comes in. By donating through Kickstarter, you have the opportunity to contribute to our next convention's success.
Where will the money go?
Every cent you donate to our project will go directly toward convention expenses. Even if we manage to break past our goal, we'll put all of it toward getting more guests for the convention and won't even keep a penny of it for ourselves -- that's how dedicated we are to making this an awesome convention!
How do the rewards work?
Of course we don't expect you to just give us money for nothing! What kind of topsy-turvy Bizarro universe would this be if we asked that of you? If you're just looking to help out our cause, but can't make the convention, there are still rewards to be had! Pick the Alpha-Level or Uncanny-Level packages to contribute to the convention and score some convention-related swag, like the t-shirt designed exclusively for Kickstarter donors. We haven't designed it yet, but here's a look at one of last year's shirts designed exclusively for our convention by artist Tony Moore! If you're already planning on attending our convention, think of the top three donation levels as your pre-registration fee -- each donation level beginning at Astonishing and up includes a three-day pass to the convention. By "pre-registering" through Kickstarter, this becomes your convention. When you show up to the convention next fall, you can look around and proudly proclaim, "I helped make this happen." The more you give, the better the convention will be for you and your fellow attendees. Note to international backers: We very humbly request that you add $5 to your donation to account for the added shipping costs.
