WHY is Tamburlaine Worth Funding?
The big question on everyone's mind - and here is our answer:
VVP wants to take historic stage plays from the Elizabethan Era and create an episodic series.
Each play would be broken down into scenes for each episode, and each season would give us the chance to explore a new play. In this way we hope to entice this generation's viewers into rediscovering the work of playwrights who have fallen by the wayside. Shakespeare alone withstands the test of time, but what of Marlowe? Jonson? Kyd?
Especially for today's audiences, who are craving period dramas such as Game of Thrones, Vikings, and Borgias - now is the time to reclaim these scintillating stories.
We have begun with Tamburlaine, one of Marlowe's greatest works, and hope that with your help we can continue to recreate these masterpieces for the modern eye.
Many articles support the idea that a cinematic adaptation increases the number of readers, with book sales skyrocketing!
“Historically, when a movie based on a book comes out we usually see a jump in sales of the book,” Sara Nelson, editorial director of books and Kindle at Amazon.com
See some examples here, and ask yourself "isn't this is a trend worth supporting?":
Even TIME agrees: "Movies give new life to old classics"
