The name is a reference to the buildings amazing history - The Hoots Roller Mill and storage warehouse were once used to produce flour. Built by the Hoots family between the 1930s and 1950s, the buildings are full of local history and character.
Kickstarter is an innovative and amazing way to help artists fund projects. If you don’t know how it works, it’s simple. You pledge an amount to a prize level, we give you those really cool prizes then we get some money to help us create our dream! Kickstarter has an all-or-nothing funding policy. This meaning if we get $1 short of our target goal, we get no money and won’t be able to make our dream happen.
With this being said, we could use all the help we can get! We really appreciate any pledge you can give and hope you tell all your friends. Then end result is you get cool prizes while helping fund an exciting new brewery, what could be better?
How can you help?
Just open a Kickstarter account. You can either enter your email and create and account or sign in using Facebook. Sign in to Amazon. If you already have an account, you are good to go! - You only have to Pledge $1 or more (Your card will only be charged if we reach our goal) - SPREAD THE WORD!
How will you guys use the pledged money? A brewery is a very costly venture! We need all the assistance we can get. We have great ideas and the right team to make this come alive, but we really need your support.
Here are some things your generous donations will go to:
Supplies for our first batch of beer : Grains, Hops, Yeast & Utilities
A new semi-auto 2-head keg washer/filler in order to keg and distribute our beer as soon as possible
You will be along side us as we go through the licensing process, up-fitting our space, installation of equipment and catching a first look of us as we brew our first batch of beer.
On the right side of this page is a list of all the rewards we are offering in return for your generous pledges. In order to make our dreams a reality, we need to raise $20,000 in 30 days. The more money we raise, the closer we get to delivering our passion of beer to you!
See ya at HOOTS!

Risks and challenges
We recently were approved on a federal level for all brewing permits, so that hurtle is cleared.
With hops being scarce and in huge demand, one of our biggest challenges will be obtaining the desired materials that fit our recipies. In response to this challenge we are forming relationships that will lead to direct sourcing of the ingredients we need. There are many smaller farms on the east coast developing for this very reason.
Another challenge we have considered, is the over-saturation of the brewing market. Through market studies and research, we have come to the conclusion that a focus on developing new American styles will keep our production interesting while protecting us from a national market shakedown. Also putting an immediate focus on our hometown market, which is more than underserved in craft breweries, will sustain our business for years to come.
The three of us have played in bands for most of our lives, which lead us to visiting bars and venues all over the country. Gaining an appreciation for well built bars that serve well made drinks, inspired us to build one of our own. After years of bartending to pay the rent, and home-brewing to save money on beer - the likely next step was to open a brewery and make it awesome! So, here we are.
We are proud of the progress North Carolina has made in the past several years in the brewing industry and we are especially proud of the progress made by Winston's only craft brewery- Foothills Brewing. We feel that we are the perfect team to continue this legend by attaching ourselves strongly to the city's history and culture - Pulling inspiration from our Moravian settlement, urban history & renewal, rural proximity, creative branding, and our long-running industrial background. Furthermore, our Domestic Initiative Program will allow us to work closely with local home-brewers in order to continually stay in touch with what Winston's beer drinkers are making and drinking.
We're from here, love it here, and got what it takes to make Winston's Beer.
