About this project
A destination that embraces the four elements of culture: Art, Music, Food and Education--Millers Studios. Artists work in studios upstairs while workshops, a cafe, and a mom-and-pop-style bakery operate downstairs. Millers Studios is a center devoted to creating opportunities to connect with the people around us, in our work, in our play, and in our everyday lives. By bringing together artists, we create a welcoming space for people of all walks of life to experience, whether it be through an installation, a shared workspace, a musical performance, a class, or even a cup of coffee. We host events, live shows, and an array of exhibitions and performances from artists, both national and international.
We're raising funds and transforming a once vacated building into a buzzing atmosphere for all ages to explore a variety of interests in an environment where expression is encouraged. With artist residency, educational programs for kids and adults, studio spaces, and a music venue, Millers Studios will allow pieces of culture from around the world to be experienced. We are a dedicated team that believes in the power of art and how it changes lives.
Risks and challenges
When opening up a "space" the risk of "no one showing up" is a valid fear. Communicating with each other regarding such a large project presents its own challenges. There can be issues with permits, small town politics can be tricky to navigate, and achieving sustainable functioning in a large building is a huge undertaking. However, there is a synergy present among the members of Team Millers Studios that makes the whole so much greater than the sum of its parts. We communicate when problems arise and we respect each individual and their voice. We trust in each person's experience in their craft and believe in collaborative effort. A strong sense of family, place, and home unifies a vision in which we see how this project gives back to the community.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
