What a year for Even When I Fall!

Namaste backers,

It has been quite a year for Even When I Fall and Circus Kathmandu.

We finished the film (with your help!) and now it is making its way around the world...

Last month, Even When I Fall had it’s Nepali premiere at Film Southasia. Streams of people turned up to watch the film so we were upgraded to a larger screening space. Producer Elhum was there to speak about the film alongside the entire circus. It was an emotional, inspiring moment for everyone in the room - particularly the circus who were sharing their story with their community for the first time in some cases.

The film then made its way to Doha where it screened at Ajyal Youth Film Festival to rooms full of young people - utterly transfixed by the strength and agency of the circus performers.

These screenings were followed by a panel discussion around child trafficking and what our individual responsibilities in combating modern day slavery should be. It was an honour to share this experience with Circus Kathmandu's Sheetal and Bijay, who have become naturals at taking questions and building awareness through their experiences.

As many of you know Even When I Fall was nominated for the British Independent Film Award’s Discovery Award. Unfortunately we didn’t take the award home but we are SO proud of our team for achieving all that we have so far.

Kickstarter rewards are making their way to you, slowly but surely. Thank you for your patience. We are particularly excited about the next set of rewards being sent out -- personalised messages from Circus Kathmandu! There is a real buzz in Kathmandu as they screened the film for the second time at Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival last weekend...

Last but not least, Circus Kathmandu are raising funds for their Winter Appeal at the moment. This appeal is for the circus’s Emergency Medical Fund - a crucial safety net for the performers and their families:

With circus your body is your tool, it needs to always be in the best possible shape for your work and for your future.

We would like to make sure that members of Circus Kathmandu never have to make a choice between food or medication, rent or seeing a doctor.

If you have a few pounds leftover this Christmas, please donate and spread this campaign!

Sorry for the omission - Sky Neal is the film's co-director of course!

Great news the film is being shown in Asia. Looking forward to a london screening. It’s nice to know Sky has a son called Wolfie. Who is Sky?
