SOMEONE ELSE Project Update #6: Pics and videos from our world premiere!

We were happy and grateful when we learned that we'd be having our world premiere at the Miami International Film Festival. But that was a few months ago. Imagine just how much happier and more grateful we were to finally get on the plane last week, after suffering through one of the worst NYC winters in years!

Miami was everything we hoped it would be. The festival has an excellent program of films from all over the world, and it's very well run by a team of smart, likeable people who take great care of their filmmakers. Our world premiere screening, held at the landmark Tower Theater, was sold out! The crowd really seemed to like the film -- there was good energy in the house the entire evening, and we had a stimulating Q&A after the movie ended. Here are some pics:

So long, Miami. We never got to meet catalogue cover boy Orson Welles, but other than that, it was a perfect weekend.

We also got two nice reviews coming out of the festival (with hopefully more to come). The first, by Steve Mesa at Examiner.com, praises the movie's "twists and turns" and the "outstanding" performances of our two male leads Aaron and Leo. The second, a Spanish-language review by Ruben Peralta Rigaud at Cocalecas.net, contains what is so far Nelson's favorite line written about the movie by anyone; roughly translated, it reads:

"Someone Else" makes a strong impression on the viewer. You can discuss it for days and still not reach a clear conclusion about it. Cinema with more questions than answers is what we seek; of the other kind, we have enough.

Finally, James Pierre interviewed Aaron and Nelson for MCDTV, the community TV station for Miami-Dade College, which administers the festival. The interviews have just gone up at James' website. Here's Aaron, and here's Nelson.

That's it for now! We're waiting to find out about several other film festivals coming up in the summer and fall, and investigating our options for theatrical (and eventual DVD/Video on Demand) release. We will of course keep you posted. And we'll be in touch soon about sending out backer rewards, which should happen over the summer. 'Til then --
