SOMEONE ELSE Project Update #4: ONLY 48 HOURS TO GO! Please help us spread the word!
Greetings backers old and new,
We’re getting down to the wire, with only 48 hours left! Our campaign ends on WEDNESDAY at 5pm ET. If we reach our goal, we’ll be able to give SOMEONE ELSE the release that we believe it deserves.
Please do what you can to help us spread the word. Here’s a shortened version of our Kickstarter link:
We’re also only a few days from our WORLD PREMIERE at the Miami International Film Festival, on Friday, March 13! Here’s our page at the festival’s website. I’ll post an update here after our premiere, and you can also keep track of any news on Facebook and Twitter.
We have one last new backer reward to offer. As you may have gathered from descriptions of the movie, SOMEONE ELSE is a bit of a puzzle film. The movie starts off as a straightforward, conventional drama, but changes into something very different by the end. Unlike, say, THE SIXTH SENSE or THE USUAL SUSPECTS -- both movies we love -- SOMEONE ELSE doesn’t neatly tie everything up at its conclusion. We wanted to leave space for viewers to come up with their own interpretations.
But naturally, people have questions! So as an exclusive treat for backers, anyone who donated $25 or more to our campaign -- that is, everyone who qualified for the DVD or digital download of the film -- will receive a link to a short video Nelson will post online, in which he’ll give his explanation for what the movie “means.” Which is not to say that it’s the ONLY meaning! But it will, we hope, deepen your understanding of the film and enrich your experience of it.
The explanation will only be viewable for a short time, probably a few weeks -- but hopefully that will be long enough for people to watch the movie and then follow up by checking out the video. We’ll email you this video link when we send out the DVD/digital download over the summer.
We got a few nice write-ups this past week. Many thanks to Phil at Angry Asian Man and Joz at 8Asians for helping drive awareness about the film and our KS campaign. Also, we were very happy to see this article in the Korea Daily, one of the largest Korean-language newspapers published in U.S. Just for kicks, we ran the article through Google Translate, and got this colorful description of the movie’s plot:
"Law student drama film ramrod Jamie Green going to find the little tramp cousin Will what is happening in New York. Jamie moment along the way of life of the Will to live out dreams of departure for the fall in hell, but the girl with the mysterious charm by meeting the Cat from chaos and tragedy can not get out of hand."
Finally, as we head into these last 48 hours, we wanted to thank you again for your support. Because of your generosity, and your willingness to help us promote the campaign, we’re close to achieving our goal, which means we’re that much closer to bringing our movie to audiences.
