About Generator Theater Company's production of Flipzoids
Generator Theater Company and Filipino Community, Inc. will produce Flipzoids in Juneau, Alaska, April 12-29 at McPhetres Hall.
Flipzoids tells the story of three Filipino immigrants in The United States: Redford is a 20-something kid that hangs out at beachside restrooms searching for connections; Vangie is a nurse who memorizes the dictionary to sound more American; Aying, Vangie’s mother, struggles with understanding a daughter to whom she has become an embarrassment. Together, they search to understand their identity in their new American world. Flipzoids was originally produced by the Obie Award-winning Ma-Yi Theater Company in New York City.
With a large Filipino population in Juneau, we are producing Flipzoids to promote a deeper understanding of Filipino culture within the community as a whole. The money we raise will go towards the cost of bringing two designers and one actor to Alaska from the east coast, paying the actors and designers, renting McPhetres Hall, constructing the set, and advertising.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
