I offer these chants at the feet of my guru, Sri Siddhi Ma who showed me how to trust my own inner experience to walk my Path and continues to …
ANUBHAV is the title of the album ~ Anubhav is a word Ma spoke when talking with me about how important it is to have a disciplined practice so it may blossom into each one’s own direct experience of the Divine, the Soul, the One. This inner knowing or perception or feeling, Anubhav, is what guides us on the Path of Life.
It’s been over 5 years since the release of my first album "Antarayaami-Knower of All Hearts" and I'm so grateful for all the support I’ve received for the album and for those of you who chant live with me. It is your support that has encouraged me to offer this new recording of chants we’ve been singing together since then.
This Kickstarter campaign is essentially a PRE-SALE of my new album ANUBHAV. The songs are recorded. We are in the mixing and mastering phase now. The CDs will be on their way to being manufactured soon. By backing this project you will get an advance copy either on CD or digitially. I have offered a few options of ways to get the music. So please choose the "pledge" that suits you!
In late summer 2016, Noah Hoffeld (an accomplished cellist-bhakta) came to me wanting to find Maharaj-ji satsang in New York. He began accompanying me on cello at my kirtans and eventually it seemed a natural fit for him to produce. I am so happy to be working with him on this project musically, and as a friend.

Like the first album, we laid the the foundation scratch vocals, harmonium, and drum tracks at Tedesco Studios in New Jersey - just the 3 of us - Noah, Arjun, and me. In addition to tabla, we opened Arjun's percussion treasure-chest and found all kinds of drums and things for him to play. Since then we've added the other tracks in Noah's home-studio in Brooklyn. The kirtan choir was recorded at Brecher Hall, Hunter College.
This new music continues to be influenced by my South Indian DNA with some special touches from instruments I’ve heard and loved from places I’ve lived and travelled through around the world. Krishna Das sings with me again, this time on a Buddhist chant and my daughter Uma adds her sweet and soulful voice to a traditional bhajan I learned from my mother long ago, now rendered as an invocation to Govinda. All the new songs are supported by a kirtan choir of my satsang family, for you to sing along with.
Some of my kirtan buddies share their voices as guests on some tracks:
My mother, Anasuya, has made it possible for me to travel to India and chant with people away from home all these years by caring for Uma in my absence, teaching us bhajans all those years ago, feeding us with her delicious food and constant encouragement and support. My daughter Uma continues to delight (us all) with her artistry! In exchange for a hot coffee in the morning at Sivananda Bahamas I roused her from her winter-school-break-sleep to catch the morning rays on the Caribbean Sea to photograph for the album cover (and other photos).
My sisters Sarina and Shamina are visual artists and can execute any project masterfully. Their eyes and hearts have made this project look as it does. Thanks to bhakti sister Keli for showing up always in so many ways, this time with camera and Gopi skirt! Jennifer for her beautiful rendering of Kainchi Devi ~ Since it is not allowed to take photos in the temple, she was inspired to make and share this darshan art. Also big thanks to Sandy Chase for the Kickstarter video you see above.

Risks and challenges
This is my second album production. The recording is all done and we are in the final mixing stages. To date, we have not had any issues. We are totally confident that our experienced team will see this through. For this new album we are using the same trusty studio, professional producer and engineer and musicians that have worked with us in the past.
Every now and then there are delays in the mixing and mastering processes. This could add a little time to the schedule, maybe a couple of weeks.
If there any unforeseen delays this could become Fall 2018. We have considered all the rewards offered carefully and do not expect problems in getting them to you around the estimated delivery date we have noted.
As a backer, you are our partner. If there are any issues along the way, we will be sure to keep you updated.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
