VERA is a 10-minute short film which is about a 7-year-old girl's extraordinary one day experience. People around her scare and intimidate her. Especially her mother forces her to steal her friend's barbie doll and keeps giving her odd directions like, "Come to me when I give you a sign," "Go there and come here again." All Vera wants is just to go home but the mother wants her to "play" more. Vera runs into her friend who is the owner of the barbie and tries to run away, following her mother. However the mother leads her again to where the friend was. Confused and panicked Vera faints eventually... Vera opens her eyes then she sees a film set. All the strange people were the film crews, all the mother's odd directions were the way she was directed for the acting.
So I'm trying to deal with the immorality of the people who make films, specifically about directing child actors/actresses. It is driven by my friend's experience, who is also a filmmaker. There was a mother who set her own child up to steal something in a real life, which was actually a role in a film. It was quite shocking to me, and I tried to make it as a story right away.
We finished a little more than half of the whole shooting. We still have to shoot the middle and the climax part where the twist happens; the core of this film. We have to set up a film set in the film and it's financially quite demanding work. So we need your help to get this part done well-!! It will help us to rent an equipment truck, purchase props, fill up the gas, feed cast and crew, etc. We will manage it in the most economical way. None of your help will be spent in vain, or be unrelated to the project!!
