If you have had some of the same challenge and you are tired of looking into the eyes of your children only to find the look of disappointment.Clothing is supposed to make you feel relaxed, stylish, chic and attractive, but most importantly confident about the way we look.
If these have been some of the challenges you have when purchasing clothing for your plus size children – you are in the right place with “HEY MOM IT FITS”
I can remember the frustration when shopping for my plus sized child. We went from store to store and came up empty handed. Remember, clothing is supposed to make you feel good about yourself, but for my son it was just a source of rejection. For this reason, I will never forget the day when I found something that fit him perfectly. He came out of the dressing room and said "Hey Mom, It Fits!" Right then I said “Son you name the business".
Many years ago after one too many occasions of seeing my son hurt because he was unable to find a style he was looking for, I decided to put my sewing skill to use. I went home and began to create an outfit for him based on styles that I saw him gravitate towards.
I started off as a designer of children's clothing and shifted my focus to plus sized children after I became a parent. As time went on other parents noticed the clothing I had designed for my son and I began making cloths for their plus size children. Word began to spread and a demand for my creations was generated. I included my son’s ideas in the designing process. He came up with jogging suits with no sleeves, pants with drawstrings and shorts with matching hats. He wanted his clothes to be unique. He wanted to stand out.
After working with plus sized women's fashion for years. It was painful to see parents come into a plus sized women's store to purchase clothes for their 9-12 year old children. They had to make adjustments to make the clothes fit. Many of the children looked like little women and not little girls.
At “HEY MOM IT FITS” our clothing is tailored to fit. No more grown-up looks or clothes too tight! Just happy kids styled to make their parents proud.

The demand for our clothing has become more than a sewing project completed in a home. Therefore, your backing will allow us to purchase a mass amount of fabrics, labels and trimmings. It will help us secure a large scale manufacturer for our clothing. We are looking to promote the first catalog of plus sized children. We would like to hire hopeful children as plus sized models. Therefore we would continue to show them that no matter your size you are a beautiful individual. We would like to increase our advertising at this time. We are developing our website and require additional assistance.
Risks and challenges
In fashion, cash flow is the biggest challenge for any design business—big or small. There is always the delay of deliveries. Designers must pay most of their money upfront for pattern maker, fabric and notions and sample production. With plus size children being on the rise, I see a demand of parent seeking fashionable and comfort clothes that may challenge us in the delivery.
Taking this next big step forward is a whole new challenge. Production hurdles will certainly happen, snags will arise, and questions will come up that I have not previously considered. I promise to communicate openly about any changes along the way, do everything in my power to keep the promises I committed to from the start, and – most important of all – stay true to the goal and vision of this project.
I am not in this alone. While the name "It Fits" will be sewn into every design in the end, none of this can happen without the assistance, guidance and consultant of others in my close-knit network of people ready to give this collection its legs. I will meet with them regularly and trust their expertise to guide me through the challenges and changes as they happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
