ripplebox is an exciting new species of fly box that features a unique silicone ripple insert. It's been designed to make organising and changing flies simpler and quicker, so your fly can spend more time in the water.
ripplebox waves goodbye to worn out slits, fiddly returns, and pre-defined spacing. Featuring 12 full-length fly channels, hooks can be placed in gently, and held securely, anywhere.
Storing flies has never been more efficient. ripplebox offers a secure grip from end to end; no wasted space.
A durable nylon latch, tough polycarbonate case, marine grade stainless steel pin and our unique silicone ripple, ripplebox is saltwater friendly, and built to last a lifetime.
ripplebox has been designed to be your most versatile day pack. Comfortably holding patterns of all shapes and sizes, our innovative ripple allows flies to be spaced and organised exactly how you wish.
This is us!
Based between Oxfordshire and London, we're professional product designers and enthusiastic fly-fishermen.
With over 12 years of industry experience between us, designing products that range from jewellery to medical devices, we're now excited to work together on a project that bridges both of our passions; design and fly fishing.
As experienced designers we know exactly what's needed to take a product to market.
Despite our slightly higher manufacturing costs due to our commitment to use U.K. manufacturing, we believe the quality we will achieve by building ripplebox locally is worth paying that little extra for.
We've already invested in the engineering and tooling of our unique ripple insert, and now turn to Kickstarter to raise funds for the rest of the tooling. For this, we need to raise £10,000; with the remaining total going towards our first production run of ripplebox, and its delivery to you.
We've looked at this closely with our U.K. manufacturers, to set a realistic timescale for delivery of ripplebox.
- August - September : Kickstarter Campaign!
- 22nd September : Commission the tooling for our parts. (8 week lead time)
- 13th November : Finalise packaging and compile distribution list.
- 20th November : Assemble and test the first production samples!
- 27th November : Quality control & testing for final production.
- 4th December : Pack and ship our first early-bird rippleboxes!
- 10th December : Begin the shipping of all our main orders!

We began designing ripplebox in 2016, after a two week cycle-fly fishing trip to the north of Scotland left our hands cold and fumbling to return our hooks into their boxes.
After hours of research and exploring many different concepts to try to solve this issue, we discovered our first ripple, and instantly fell in love with its functional simplicity. Our design has steadily evolved over the past year through over 50 prototypes, and many hours spent perfecting the ripple's hold. We were driven to create the highest performing box we could, and without compromise - it had to work better than everything on the market.
But don't just take our word for it, prototypes of ripplebox have been - and will continue to be - tested and reviewed by a selection of qualified AAPGAI instructors, professional fly tiers and competition anglers before they reach the market. This is one of our guiding principles; for ripplebox to now - and in the future - be guided by the experience of experts.
When it comes to production, we're committed to an ethical and responsible use of modern manufacturing techniques, and our ambition is to use no adhesives, toxic resins, solvent based inks or non-recyclables in our product. We believe in designing for disassembly, which means after a lifetimes use, ripplebox can be recycled easily. It also means that should an accident happen, any part of a ripplebox can be individually replaced.
Without the kind support from friends, family and the people we've met along the way, ripplebox would not be in the exciting place it is today.
Our heartfelt thanks to the following people, for their guidance, support, enthusiasm and constructive criticisms, that have helped us to shape ripplebox.

Risks and challenges
We've reached a really exciting point of the design process, and already de-risked the most challenging area for production - the engineering and tooling of our rippled silicone insert. Since this is a world first, we wanted to be sure that it functioned exactly as intended, before we were happy to share it with the Kickstarter community.
The remaining tooling of the lid, base and latch is by contrast straightforward, our biggest challenge will be in ensuring a high optical quality to our viewing window. We're confident we can achieve this, by keeping in close contact with our experienced U.K. manufacturers, reviewing samples quickly, and keeping a close eye on our production quality.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
