Update: Stretch goal of $2,000 set!
Captain Siracha will be joining the battle! See Update 3.
For this endeavor, I will consume a gallon of kimchi in one sitting if you help me reach my goal of $1,000 raised within 7 days. (That's right. This is flash crowdfunder!) The funds will go to general operating expenses for the nonprofit organization Gazillion Strong, where I work.
I've done eaten a ton of kimchi once before for charity. And let me tell you, eating a gallon of kimchi is a huge risk. It's not a life or death situation obviously. However, it's a difficult task and you pay for it the next day; the "cleanse" is super violent and lasts for about a couple days. (I just shivered a bit remembering what that was like.) I'm up for it, though. I'm mentally and physically prepared because I'm, as the kids like to day, #AsianAF.
In return for your support, you'll get to watch me eat the kimchi. Live. In my underwear. There will also be special guests who will be swinging by my living room (where the eating will commence) to jazz it up. Believe me. It'll be a good time and you'll chuckle because I'll be struggling at the end.
So, join me for what will be an epic journey. Give whatever you can and let's make this "Korean Dude vs. Gallon of Kimchi" thing happen!
What is kimchi?
For those of you who don't know, according to Wiki: "Kimchi, also spelled kimchee or gimchi, is a traditional fermented Korean side dish made of vegetables with a variety of seasonings." It's spicy, delicious, and healthy! But there is such a thing as too much of a good thing...
What will I do next?
I'm hoping that my next challenge will be sannakji - live octopus! Mmm! Stay tuned for that.
What's Gazillion Strong?
On a more serious note, this flash crowdfunding campaign is for charity. Again, all of the proceeds go directly to Gazillion Strong. It's an organization based out of Minneapolis, MN, and is "dedicated to the development of resources and tools that aid marginalized communities, such as adopted people, foster alums, immigrants, people of color, and LGBTQ community members, to speak and advocate for themselves and others."
The organization is young, but we're doing some great with amazing community partners. Check us out!
