I am currently recording and mixing my third album, “Expectations.” All of the songs on the album were written in the last few years and deal with the concept of expectations. I find it an interesting concept - we think we "should" have expectations and simultaneously we think we "shouldn't" have them. This album reflects the insights I’ve learned about myself from experiencing both sides, the “shoulds” and the “shouldn’ts”.
Earlier this year I received a 2010 Individual Artist Grant from the Maryland State Arts Council and The Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts of $2,000 towards the project. This money has enabled me to begin the recording process at Mobtown Studios of Baltimore, Maryland and distribute the tracks to all of my producers.
The album is quite an auspicious project, including 10 different producers on 10 different songs. The producers range from hip-hop to house, acoustic rock to pop and everywhere in between. Currently the producers are working on their tracks and will have all the songs tracked, mixed and ready for me by mid-November.
With this campaign I am raising funds to complete the album. To finish the project, I still need to master the album, put together the album artwork (which includes a photo shoot and hiring a graphic designer), pay my wonderful producer friends and actually get the album ready and available for download.
This album will be strictly a download-only album, as it is not only environmentally friendly but also cheaper to produce. I will be selling the album online through online distributors such as CD Baby and iTunes, as well as selling download cards at live shows. (Check out Disc Revolt at http://www.discrevolt.com to see how it works.)
Thank you so much for your consideration on this campaign! I certainly appreciate your support and look forward to sharing the album with you in February, 2011.
PS - A big THANK YOU to Regan Garcia of Red Moon Productions (http://www.redmoonproduction.com) for donating his time and talent for the awesome video for this campaign!
