The Kid-PACK is a cool sling-style backpack for kids. It has:
- Sling styled ergonomic design
- Padded shoulder strap
- Beverage holder
- Multiple interior and exterior pockets
- Kid friendly velcro patches

B.R.O and Shen-Paco assemble and package all Kid-PACK patches.
Doing good while doing business is "Good Business."
The Kid-PACK mission statement... "Be prepared and Do your best."
My kids liked the Man-PACK so much that they wanted me to use Kickstarter to launch the Kid-PACK. (In fact, Gabriel wanted me to use the Classic 2.0 proceeds to fund Kid-PACK. I had to explain to him that the funds were needed to fulfill the pledges made from that kickstarter campaign. It was a great moment to teach him about the value of following through and being faithful to responsibility.)
So...... we put our heads together and designed the perfect book bag for kids age 4-12!
It all started with a sketch by hand. We used the Man-PACK platform as a model since that is what the kids wanted... They just wanted it smaller, and different, and cooler...
This is what we came up with:
I draw by hand. Just like people did before the advent of computers. I think that truly connecting with the creative process requires the skill of a dedicated hand. Whether a literary brainstorm, or sketch, even outlining a website, doing something by hand is a wholesome endeavor and the connection you make with your idea is fluid. It becomes an expression of yourself. The drawn idea is a composition of the soul and breathes life into ideas organically. Call me romantically ideal, but I just do what works.
The Kid-PACK concept evolved and my kids wanted the ability to decorate the Kid-PACKs. We started by looking at different fabric prints, but the minimum order quantities for each production run was cost prohibitive to get the Kid-PACK off the ground without A LOT of money. So we started discussing how to decorate the Kid-PACK in a simple manner and make it customizable. After all, every kid has different interests and those interests change as fast as Autumn winds.
I am prior military and suggested the idea of military morale patches. We thought it would be easy to find some that were kid-friendly and whimsical. That was not the case. After shopping around I realized that we had stumbled upon a GREAT idea! And we set to work picking shapes and designing patches for kids.
Now your kids can carry a cool and healthy book bag while decorating with changeable velcro patches to reflect their changing interests, or mood, on any given day. They get to express themselves and that is important.
I let the kids make the decisions and guide them through the process of design, sourcing material, prototype development, and finally marketing. All that you see here in this project is a compilation of a 5 year old, a 6 year old, a 10 year old, and a 34 year old. The kids even helped write the kickstarter video script. It was done after dinner at the kitchen table as a collaborative process. Pretty neat huh?
The Tweedie kids led the effort to make the Kid-PACK a reality. They have been talking about this and planning for the last 12 months and we are proud to present you with this cool new product!
We are excited to make this product in the U.S.A and utilize great non-profit organizations in the manufacturing process.
It's a WIN-WIN-WIN-WIN situation.
After the campaign, we will make the initial inventory order of Kid-PACK. We have a prototype ready and it is currently being tested and used in an effort to discover any additional enhancements that can make it easier for a kid to use. That being said, there could be very slight changes to the design if we can make it better, but we're 99.5% there and ready to go into production.
After your pledge:
- Upon campaign completion, kickstarter holds funds for 15 days.
- After 15 days we'll make the initial inventory order
- Kid-PACKs will be in production approx. 45-60 days
- They are shipped out via 2-3 day USPS Priority mail
Pledge now and share this campaign on social media!

Risks and challenges
We have everything in place and we learned A LOT from the last successful kickstarter campaign! The lead time from the USA is much less than overseas (between 30-45 days as opposed to 90-100 days for offshore production) and we feel confident in meeting the goal so that your kids have their Kid-PACKs in time for the new school year.
Keep in mind that acts of God and unforeseen circumstances can always happen. So there is always the chance of delays in pledge fulfillment. But we have crossed our T's and dotted our I's and as long as there are no unforeseen circumstances, we'll be right on time. Any way you cut it, failure is not an option. We never quit, and we fulfill our commitments. You can have faith that this project will come to fruition.
