Dear friends, thank you for your amazing support and contribution throughout the campaign! Unfortunately, we are not able to reach our Kickstarter goal, but we still want to do our best to have the game developed.

What is CatLand?
Have you ever wanted a kitty companion to keep you company on those cold nights? To purr adorably at your every touch? To happily follow you around town and share your experiences?
Well now you can have all those things...with your feline friend living comfortably in your smartphone!
Just think: no kitty litter, no hairballs, no scratched furniture. Just a faithful companion to keep you company as you go about your busy day.
Now for the first time, you can have a feline companion that actually interacts with the real world, learns your habits, and reflects your personality.
How the game works
CatLand allows you to adopt a virtual pet on your smartphone and take care of it via the places you visit in the real world.
Players begin by choosing a breed (ginger, black, white, or a special breed just for Kickstarter backers), selecting its gender, and naming it. Just like a real pet, the virtual kitty needs a daily dose of food, fun and friends, and the main challenge is to meet its needs by exploring a variety of venues.
If your kitty is hungry, pop in to a restaurant to give it a tasty treat. If she is feeling lonely, visit a park or other social gathering place and watch her eyes light up at the sight of new playmates. Go to the library to equip her with new skills, to the gym to keep her strong, and to the mall for some entertainment. There are even some *secret* locations that will have unique effects on your pet.
Over time, your virtual cat will reflect your experiences and personality through the places you go together. You can also share your pet’s adventures if you wish via seamless integration with social media networks.
But be careful: it takes just 10 days for your little friend to perish without food. Be a good owner and make sure such a terrible thing never happens!
By taking good care of your pet, you will gain points that will bring you to the next level of the game. But more importantly, you will have a loyal friend who will keep you company everywhere you go, at any time of the day.
*** Super special! The first 50 backers of this campaign will receive early access to the game as beta testers one month prior to the global launch. ***
These are our stretch goals if we surpass our original target amount. Stay tuned, new goals could be anounced later!
We've already developed a basic prototype that you can see in the video above. But we need your help to complete development, finalize the artwork, create the remaining cat characters, and launch the game on both iOS and Android. With your support, our goal is to have the app finished and ready to download on both platforms by the end of August 2013.
Our fearless leader is a 10-year veteran of casual video games and currently works for a major game studio. His dream it to escape the corporate bureaucracy and strike out on his own as an indie game developer. He has brought together a team of friends and former colleagues from around the world to help him make his dream come true, and we’re putting our heads together to deliver rewards and a final product to knock your socks off!
Our goals as a team:
- to make the best virtual pet app ever
- to offer a free game with all the richness and engagement of a paid game
- to provide a fun, yet mildly challenging game featuring an engaging daily companion
Risks and challenges
The main challenge for this project is the coordination of many efforts - from raising funding to artwork to design and development to marketing - in order to have the game finished and delivered according to our deadlines.
The risk is that one or more of these efforts is delayed for any number of reasons, thus delaying our development timeline and ultimately pushing back the release date. We believe that this risk is mitigated, however, due to the following reasons: 1) we have factored in buffer zones to our time estimates to ensure we take into account potential delays 2) we have collectively several decades of experience in game design and development, product and project management, and hustling!
