About this project
Hello,Goodbye is a film that tries to bring to light the current state of our medical care system and health insurance policies. The entire film is essentially a metaphor trying to explain the fact that people who do not have a lot of money cannot afford to stay healthy. As in Hello,Goodbye the story focuses on a family who have an only child, their daughter, who died from cancer three years ago. The story takes place in the not too distant future where human cloning is bought and sold as a commodity and as a result this family has cloned their daughter but in order to keep her alive they have gone into massive debt and now must sell their house and have just found out that they cannot afford to keep their daughter alive any longer and she will die at the end of the day. They must struggle to say goodbye to her for the last time.
This story is something that is close to my heart and important to me. I have spent all of my savings bringing this film to the screen and now all I ask is for the small amount of money that I need to finish it. The money that I need will go towards final color correction, sound design, and music composition as the music you hear in the trailer is all temp music.
Sound Design - 140 dollars - I have found a fantastic sound designer from columbia who believes in the film so much He is willing to design the sound for a fraction of the cost. Here is a link to his website and vimeo reel: http://www.amniotica.tv
Color Correction - 123 dollars - My cinematographer has been working tirelessly for a fraction of what he would usually get but needs just 123 dollars in order to finish the color grading to the film.
Music - 137 dollars - My musician has been working for free but he needs to get his piano tuned in order to finish the haunting and beautiful soundtrack to the film which will cost him only 90 dollars. He also needs to hire a violinist who he has found to play some live cues for the soundtrack for 50 dollars. He is a very talented composer and has won numerous awards for his work in documentaries and narratives. Here is a link to his website so you can hear some samples of his style: http://ladeaumusic.com/html/listen.php
In total I will need 400 dollars in order to finish my film.
Because kickstarter takes 5% of all funds plus amazon payments will take about 5% of my funds if I get funded then I need 445 dollars in order to obtain the 400 dollars that I need.
Although the film does not need special effects in order to get its message across I am including a budget for special effects only if my film exceeds the 400 dollar amount that I need. I would absolutely love to spend the extra funds in order to add a futuristic aspect to the film. For example, I would love to add small flying ships in the background, hovering mail boxes, holograms of home video around the house, holographic signs outside of the house, a small glint or color change within the daughters eyes in order to more accentuate the fact that she is a clone. Once again these are small refinements to make the world more interesting but in no way does it take away from the story or the message. CGI is not cheap and I would need at least 1,000 plus dollars in order to make any kind of refinements but the story works without it regardless.
Please find it in your heart to help me make this film a reality, There are wonderful perks for you and if you can't afford to donate then please pass on the trailer to anyone you might know and would be willing to give a helping hand. Thank you so so much from the bottom of my heart! My ultimate goal is for this film to make a difference to the people who view it and encourage change in our current healthcare system!
