I'm wanting to expand my business, but in able to do that I need to do larger and more shows such as craft shows and vendor fairs. The problem comes in that you need your booth fees months in advance and pretty much all at the same time. There are also other costs that needed to be figured in such as gas, supplies, and setting up my booth in a more professional manner. I would also like to revamp my webpage to be more user friendly and more widespread. I want to be able to set up all of my shows and fairs for the rest of the year so I can concentrate on making items and fulfilling orders and not wondering if I'm going to be able to raise enough money to try and schedule one show a week. I had to cancel a lot of my end of year shows due to the sudden death of my best customer and my biggest fan, my mother. Because of the cancelled shows a lot of the income that I normally put towards new shows was not there.
Risks and challenges
My challenges with this project is that it is an all or nothing venture. If I don't raise the minimum, I get no money, but at least my name will get out there through the campaign. If I am successful, the challenge will be getting all of the rewards done since I make everything by hand. I'm working on this by starting to make the earrings for the $10 donation level ahead of time with supplies I have on hand. I do not foresee a problem with getting the rewards done in a timely fashion. Plus, I love working on my jewelry so I will happily work on each and every item.
