Why I wrote the book
Friends and clients often tell me they don’t have time to cook or to eat well. This book is about overcoming that challenge. It shows you a practical, achievable, simple system that boosts your nutrition and helps you feel amazing every day.
A common story I hear from the clients I’ve coached over the years is how in our 20s and 30s it was relatively easy to stay in shape but as life has gone on and our lives have gotten busier things have changed. Waistlines expand, clothes no longer fit and tiredness seems ever-present.
While you are highly successful in many areas of life and give out so much to others, you may feel like you’ve lost control of your own health. Life is so busy that you often rely on quick fixes like takeaways, processed ingredients and convenience food to get by. I know how busy life can get, how easy it can be to put yourself last and how quickly you can lose the person you once were.
The great news is that you can turn this around and this book shows you exactly how.

Aged 18, I spent a year living in France. It was a great experience, but after six months, I had put on so much weight my clothes no longer fitted me, my skin was terrible, my health was deteriorating and I felt miserable.
Then one day I realised that everyone around me, while eating the same types of food, were eating them in a completely different way. I adopted the French attitude to food and learnt to eat mindfully and then effortlessly lost the weight and returned home lighter and brighter than when I had left.
Two years ago, pregnant with my third child I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes (a story you can read about here.) I did a huge amount of research into nutrition, poring over scientific journals to discover the best way to eat for optimal health. I learnt how to create meals that help people maintain good energy levels and prevent them developing diabetes.
This book combines everything I learnt from living in France, my diabetes experience and my 16 years’ working in the health and wellbeing profession.
It's my opportunity to share this knowledge so that you too, can transform your health, without the struggle.
Why is this book unique?
The book explains exactly why to eat real food but best of all, it is packed full of practical ways to make that happen, even when you are busy - as a mother of three I know what it’s like!
It includes meal plans, shopping lists and all of my best tried and tested recipes, which are quick and simple to do using affordable ingredients you can easily source.
No other book on the market focuses on the planning side in the way that I do, taking the stress out of cooking by creating a library of meals in your freezer and showing you how to make 'instant' salads.
Very few books explain the French attitude to food or go into the psychology of eating which give you the keys to enjoy your food guilt-free.
This two pronged approach combining a practical system and a positive mindset is what will make a real difference in your life.
I’m using Kickstarter for two reasons:
First, I want to know if this is something that you want and I you want to be a part of the journey. I would love your input into the book so I can make it the best it can be.
More importantly, I want to create a movement that truly helps people.

How far along is the book?
- The manuscript is written (that took that last 2 years).
- It has been edited several times and sent to reviewers.
- Photography is almost completed (it’s been such fun seeing this come together!)
- Interior design and layout is about to start.
- Final proofing and printing will take place in early August so we can have the books ready to ship by my birthday, the 22nd of August. (Rather than unwrapping presents I’ll be excitedly wrapping packages to send to you!)
- Throughout September and October I will do a book tour around New Zealand so that I can meet some of you amazing people! (You can drop me a line if you want to double check I’m coming to your town, it would be my honour if I can fit it into the schedule!)
Where will the money go?
I hope to raise $4,970, to fund the initial costs of this project:
- Copy editing, design & layout ($2,700)
- Photography & videography ($1,350)
- Website and online promotion ($450)
- Kickstarter fee ($470)
The first goal is to reach this $4,970 mark, which is the minimum we need to raise for this campaign to go ahead. (Kickstarter works on an all or nothing basis which means that I won’t get a cent unless the project hits that target.)
This budget does not cover the cost of printing which be at least an additional $8,000, nor postage, the costs of a book tour, or further distribution.
If you can help me get to a higher figure, this will allow me to:
- Cover the cost of a larger print run
- Extend the book tour to more towns and cities
- Show distributors that people want this book, ultimately helping it reach more people
- Show the world that this topic is important
So don't stop helping this project if we hit the minimum!
BONUS: If we go past the initial funding goal, for every $2000 over the goal I will make a video to send out to all backers.
The videos will cover topics including the keys to eating mindfully, maintaining life balance, easy time saving workout routines, how I encourage my children to eat well, tips to make meal times stress-free, how to manage stress and improve sleep quality and live Q and A sessions, just for backers.

Risks and challenges
I am absolutely confident this book will be printed, I have put so much time, effort and love into it, that it is just a happening thing!
The only risks really are possible delays due to unforeseen circumstances, but I’m working with highly-recommended professional designers and printers so I'm confident things will go well.
