We want runners to be seen. Period. And cyclists. And skaters. And skiiers. And trick-or-treaters. And other pedestrians. And anyone else interested in being seen while out-and-about at night..
Snap it on and go for a run. It won't come off.
And we think the POPlight can help.
What is it?
A POPlight is a small, lightweight, two-piece LED light that attaches to your clothing, allowing you to take it anywhere.
How does it work?
The POPlight's LED assembly snaps into the outer-ring. Simply put some fabric between the two pieces, and you're ready to go.
Not convinced? Want to read on?
We built a cool LED light designed to easily snap onto your clothes that you can take with you when you run/jog/walk/cycle/trick-or-treat and anything else you might want to do conspicuously between sundown and sunup.
When we set out, we wanted our lights to be practical, effective, and most-of-all affordable. Being seen should never come second to affordability, so we slimmed down our design, sourced the right manufacturers and we think we've got it.
Our development history:
Our first attempt looked like this:
Our second attempt was to design the product in autocad and go the 3d-printing way. With help from the 3DPhaktory in Toronto, we were able to build the casings pretty easily:
We then experimented with compounds and came up with some softer/rubbery-ish pieces:
Now, we think we're where we need to be. We have a design for the "casing" and we now have the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) sourced:
What we need most right now, though, is YOUR SUPPORT.
To make this project fly, we need $10,608.00. Here's how it breaks down:
We plan to match this initial investment with our own money to work on promoting the products through trade shows.
Risks and challenges
Obviously, production time is a major obstacle to our success. We have experience producing plastics and have every confidence we'll meet our delivery dates.
Poor production - As troublesome as missing production dates is the potential issue with regards to our product being developed poorly. As we have extensive background dealing with plastic injection moulds, we are confident our first attempt will produce products you'll be happy to use.
Yes. It's a bit tricky to do, as Kickstarter doesn't allow rewards to be multiples of the same reward. So, if you're interested in getting 2 or more sets of POPlights, just simply pledge the amount needed to get the number of sets you want.
if you want one set, $24 (plus shipping if necessary)
if you want two sets, $48 (plus shipping if necessary)
if you want one set, $72 (plus shipping if necessary)
if you want one set, $96 (plus shipping if necessary)
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send me a note/message explaining what you want - and I'll note it next to your name.
