Hello!

 

When You're Gone is a single player platformer with a rich story told through the merge of gameplay and motion comics to deliver a unique, interactive experience. You will play as Sam as he meets, falls in love with and loses Emma. While a tragic love story, When You're Gone's main focus are the emotions surrounding loving and losing somebody close to you, and aims to be relatable beyond it's romantic themes.

Why Kickstarter?

While we're lucky enough to be attending a school that can support us with a place to work and tools ranging from recording studios to motion capture software, we still need to be able to pay for the licenses for our game before we can release it. When You're Gone is a labor of love, and we want to share it with the world - and that's where we need your help.

Who is Winteractive?

Winteractive is a studio of nine students at BTH (Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden) who came together to create and explore the field of videogames. Currently, we have the luxury to have games as our passion and not our job, and as both consumers and lovers of the medium it was a natural step forward to come together to form Winteractive. Our goal is to make games that are thought provoking, emotionally driven and aspires to feature something new - while at the same time being tons of fun!

One of the hundred physical copies of When You're Gone that will ever be made available, This will be shipped to you marked with its own index number, an eco-friendly cd case and a "retro" manual.

A fully colored 50 page digital comic book drawn by Winteractive's art director that offers deeper insight to Emma and Sam's relationship. 

Help create one of Sam's Mind Folk and Leave a permanent mark in the game and help develop Sam's psyche, choose from a growing range of beings and supply a bio for it and how it ended up inside Sam's mind, this bio will be featured ingame as well as next to the Mind Folk in the art book.

Risks and challenges

When You're Gone is our first large collaborative project. We have previously worked on other projects in smaller formations but the scale of this game is our largest yet. With this title we hope to cement our workflow and professional relationships to each other, though starting as friends has already greatly helped us have an open and positive dialogue. Finding the time to work together whilst maintaining a positive and productive school environment is an issue we are aware of and so far it's been easy to manage - we hope that this is the case later on in the production as well.
