Two brand new collections of comic stories by autobio legend Dennis P. Eichhorn.
7/22/13 UPDATE!!!: We reached our Stretch Goal, which allowed us to upgrade the books into a trade paper back with increased page count! Scroll down to learn more!
My name is Tom Van Deusen, I'm proprietor of Poochie Press Publications. I've been given the opportunity to organize and publish two new comic book collections of stories written by Dennis Eichhorn, which we'll be calling Dennis P. Eichhorn's Real Good Stuff. These will be the first collections of new comic stories written by Eichhorn in 20 years.
Cover to Issue #1 (Not Final Cover) by Aaron Lange
The original run of Eichhorn's first comic book series Real Stuff, published by Fantagraphics Books, lasted 20 issues, and there were several offshoots, including the Starhead Books-published Real Schmuck and the Eros-published, sex-themed series Real Smut. Dennis enlisted some the best comic artists of the time to illustrate his intense, pithy, often violent autobiographical stories, such as Jim Woodring, Pat Moriarity, Peter Bagge, Jim Blanchard, Peter Kuper, Chester Brown, Mary Fleener, J.R. Williams, Julie Doucet and Joe Sacco. The website Boing Boing is currently posting some of Dennis's Real Stuff stories online, which can be read for free here: http://boingboing.net/author/denniseichhorn
I am very proud to announce that we will be publishing two brand new issues of Dennis P. Eichhorn's Real Good Stuff as one trade paper back at the end of the year. These issues will include all new stories by Eichhorn, illustrated by veteran Real Stuff artists and new cartoonists as well. Contributing cartoonists include Jim Blanchard, Max Clotfelter, Mary Fleener, Sean Hurley, Aaron Lange, Pat Moriarity, Tom Van Deusen, and Noah Van Sciver.
7/22/13 UPDATE! - Because our Kickstarter was so wildly successful, we decided to pass the prosperity on to everyone who kindly donated. Instead of printing two separate newsprint comic books, we're going to print them together as a trade paper-back, with perfect binding, gorgeous recycled paper and a color insert with illustrations by the great Jim Blanchard. There will still be two issues in one, with covers on opposite sides (think Zap Comix #3) and a clear delineation between issues. We're also increasing the page count to 64 pages to put in more comics, including a story drawn by the late Paul Ollswang.

We are doing a Kickstarter in order to give these comics the print run, distribution and promotion they deserve. Poochie Press is a very small operation and we could certainly use your help.

All of our rewards include a pre-order of both books, which will be delivered to your doorstep once the book is printed. Aside from that, we're ponying up some pretty stellar stuff that you won't find elsewhere.

A lil’ something’s EXTRA!
First, the new rewards. New is the $25 level, which will get you not only the first two issues of Dennis P. Eichhorn’s Real Good Stuff, but also copies of:
Real Schmuck #1, which was Eichhorn's self-published (through Starhead) spin-off of Real Stuff
The Amazing Adventures of Ace International, a comic book that compiles many of Eichhorn's escapades as an independent sleuth
and Northwest Cartoon Cookery, a compilation of recipes from over a dozen outstanding regional cartoonists, including Jim Woodring, Shary Flenniken, Joe Sacco, Roberta Gregory, and numerous others, edited by Eichhorn.
These books have been out of print for over 20 years, and they were culled from Dennis’s personal collection.
Even more exciting is the revamped $100 level, where, with the first two issues of Dennis P. Eichhorn’s Real Good Stuff, we’ll be sending the complete 16-issue run of Northwest EXTRA!
-The Northwest EXTRA!, published and edited by Dennis Eichhorn in late 80s and 90s, was the region's premier underground arts tabloid, and featured lots of articles and poetry by counterculture heroes of the time, such as Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, Charles Bukowski, William S. Burroughs, Harvey Pekar, Joe Bob Briggs, and many others. There was artwork galore, with front covers and centerfolds by Peter Bagge, Drew Friedman, S. Clay Wilson, Robert Crumb, Carel Moiseiwitsch, Michael Dougan, Carl Smool and Holly Tuttle to name a few. These super-rare issues are must-haves for literary fans and underground comics fans alike, and some of the issues have been out of print for almost 30 years.
So thanks again for your help, interest and support. I’m positive these will be phenomenal comic books.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
We will be releasing this book at the Short Run Small Press Fest in Seattle, WA. I have a lot of experience printing comic books, and aside from some of the artists completing their artwork, everything else is squared away. All of the artists involved are very professional and reliable. We will be completely transparent with any snags in production.
We hope to send out these books and perks shortly after the Short Run festival, which is happening on November 30th. If you're in the Seattle area, you can pick up your Kickstarter rewards at the festival and meet Dennis Eichhorn, who will sign the books. Find out more about Short Run at www.shortrun.org
