Stories shape who we are. It's time for different stories because our children deserve them! We at TiffinTown Books want to be a part of that change. By combining the diverse stories of women with AR technology, we want to build communities of future leaders.
The truth is, growing up, we couldn’t find many stories of women of colour. When we did, the journeys the women went on often sounded the same. There was one voice. One pathway to success. But what about the others?
We’re working with Amplified Robot, an established AR company, to bring our stories to life! A variety of features will be incorporated into our books, accessible through the TiffinTown Books app. 3-D rendering, for instance, will allow readers to enjoy lively visuals and entertaining scenes.
Through our technology, readers will have a chance to travel through the forests of China and hear the animals Ruth Harkness encountered, and immerse themselves in the ocean to learn about marine life with Eugenie Clark. Our books will take children back in time to explore these women’s thrilling journeys.

Each of the women we write about falls under these seven categories:
Every year, we release one book a month from one of the categories. Children will be able to see that women have always and will continue to shine in every avenue of life!
The first four books tell the stories of Josephine Baker, an internationally famous African-American dancer who fought successfully for desegregating theaters; Ruth Harkness, fashion-designer turned explorer who sparked public interest in panda conservation by bringing the first panda to America; and Eugenie Clark, a leading ichthyologist who explored the mysteries of the sea and championed marine conservation; and last but not least, our mystery woman!
Hint: she was a hugely influential chef who transformed home cooking in America!
Our first book, the Story of Josephine Baker, is ready - written and fully illustrated.
Here's just a few of the pages:
You can read the first 10 pages here!
Now, we just need your help to get it printed! We're also working on the other three books and planning on what's to come in the following year!
Our books are suitable for anyone above the age of nine, who loves illustrated books about real, inspiring women and children from around the world!
Tiffiners Magazine, our quarterly e-magazine, complements our books by providing a rich array of innovative and interactive content on relevant cultural, social, historical, and scientific issues. Our magazine makes learning about the world fun! Those interested in Eugenie Clark, for instance, can treat themselves to our section on sharks, while readers moved by Josephine Baker will be able to follow her moves as she dances across the screen.
The magazines will also introduce our readers to children driving amazing change today. Age should be no limit to achieving great things. We want to work with these young leaders and showcase their stories to inspire other children and share their efforts with the world.
Here's a little look at the artworks of the artist who'll be drawing your personalized portraits!
We’re Sneha and Gladys. We met while working at World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour Global Team in 2016!
Sneha has always been passionate about making positive change and working at a nonprofit organization reinforced her desire to give back to society. She also loves books, particularly those that feature female protagonists and boarding schools! For her, TiffinTown Books was the perfect opportunity to work on her two favorite things: empowering girls and giving back to communities.
From ghost-writing to scriptwriting, Gladys always dreamed of becoming a full-fledged author, so when Sneha suggested starting a company that would not only leave the world a better place but allows her to live amongst books, she said yes immediately!
We would like to thank everyone who’s helped us in building TiffinTown Books from an idea in our head into this Kickstarter project that you see today! Special thanks to:

- Chelsy, our first book illustrator
- Marie, our very own in-house designer of everything
- Veronica, our social media post-creator
- Natalie, our branding aficionado
- Ernie, our illustrated video creator, director, and producer
Risks and challenges
With the first book complete, we’ve already begun work on the other three books. Printing and shipping have all been arranged. We just need the funding to get our books to you.
We are working with 12 artists for our books, and more will be involved for the production of our magazines. The biggest challenge for us: Time. But good things come to those who wait! We want to give our artists the most amount of time they need to truly showcase their best pieces for your children to enjoy, even if it does mean that the books will take a little longer to get to you.
We love the AR technology for our books, and we can't wait to show you.But tech is tech, so app glitches in the first version may occur. But don't worry! We've got a dedicated team on board who’ll resolve these issues as soon as they occur, so our children readers can enjoy a seamless and enjoyable reading experience.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
