About

 Break_In is a Unity-based base-building/FPSgame for PC and mac where the main aim is to amass the largest amount of money you can, and invest it in defenses, traps, and other security measures to protect the rest of your stash. To do this, you will take on both a variety of single-player missions, and more importantly, other players' bases. 

  • Build up the defenses on your own safe house to deter other players.
  • Attack other players' safe houses and try to make it past their defenses.
  • Variety of single-player missions will offer an alternative way to make money.
  • Progress through different types of safe house as you make more and more money.
  • Upgrade your own abilities, skills and weapons as you make money.
  • No subscription fees, no pay to win, no microtransactions.

Although it is very early days, I have a lot of ideas for where I want to go with Break_In. You can expect regular updates on this!

  • Dynamic

The main strength of Break_In comes from the customization. With a range of bases to take down, and the variety of defenses available for each base, you will very rarely have the same experience twice. Player A may have a handful of badly equipped thugs, while Player B could have highly trained guards, lasers, cameras, and even traps. Every experience will be different and keep you on your toes.

  • Progression

With Break_In you will start out with next to nothing, just a tiny shack of a safe house and your pistol. You will need to both break into other players' bases, and carry out single player missions to bring in some cash. You will then be able to use this cash to upgrade your own safe house, buy a new safe house, install security measures, hire security, buy new weapons, and much more. And when someone does attempt to break into your safe house, and falls victim to your well positioned camera and backup squad, you'll get a nice report detailing their struggle and a portion of their total cash. 

  • Potential for multiplayer

While Break_In will be multiplayer in the sense that you are targeting other players and stealing their money directly, there is also the option for potential co-op or competitive modes down the line. For example, if you stumble across a huge, vast safe house full of defenses, traps and security, you could have the option to bring a friend along and split the takings 50/50. 

  • A wide range of maps

Break_In will feature a wide range of safe houses available for purchase (using in-game cash only). These will range from the starting-out shacks, all the way to elaborate mountain-side bases. There are huge possibilities here, so anything is really possible. How about a volcano base with a lava trap? An underwater base? Huge possibilities. 

  • No pay2win, no microtransactions, no subscriptions or additional costs.

Goes without saying, really. I have zero intention for Break_In to go this way. Obviously I won't rule out future expansions, but I can promise right now that if the day comes when this project is ready for expansion, it will be sensibly priced and provide a lot of content. 

Firstly, I need your help! Break_In is a substantial project to undertake, but not one that I feel is beyond my capabilities. I do however need tools, assets, a Unity pro license, and many other assets, models and textures; some paid for, some from freelancers.

If this project is funded, the plan is to go through Steam's Greenlight and get a full Steam release. 

Note that the game will also be available to backers as a standalone game and will not require Steam.

Risks and challenges

Firstly, I feel the amount required is an accurate reflection of what is genuinely needed to get Break_In up and running. Obviously no project is without risks, but I do feel there are very few involved in backing and developing this project.

Unity is a solid engine more than capable of handling Break_In, and while a full license isn't cheap, it would be more than covered by the total required to successfully fund this project. I have already purchased many of the tools required to build this project, and I don't foresee any surprises in that area.

Understandably, there is any risk with a one person project, but I am qualified and prepared to undertake this. I intend to stay in constant communication and involve backers in Break_In's journey at every step of the way.
