What is a prototype?

A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

Proof of Concept

Explorations that test ideas and functionality.

Functional Prototype

Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.

Appearance Prototype

Looks like the final product, but is not functional.

Design Prototype

Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

Production Prototype

Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.

The story behind PLASB

PLASB, which stands for powerful living and soulful breathing, is a not-for-profit organization with the goal of better people’s lives through yoga and zen practice. I began this idea during my time in graduate school in New York when I was witnessing so much suffering and pain in everyday lives. On the streets of Manhattan, the level of anxiety and stress was and still is overwhelming. People living inside the city are being infected one way or another. Those symptoms are shown through mental disturbance as well as physical pain. I was also going through a very tough time myself until I started to self-master ancient wisdom from yoga and zen teachings.

Zen master tells us, "The only way to avoid pain is to become pain." Too often, humans battle with Nature and our "conditioned mind" but forget to realize that we are just part of Nature and our endeavors are effortless if we attempt to disrupt the rhythm of the universe. To become pain requires our subjective perceptions to be transformed into objective perspectives. There is no real pain in this world but only suffering and suffering is the closest milestone to happiness.

Whatever coping method we were trying in the West was highly focused on easing the symptoms but never really digging into the root cause of the pain. It is also quite disconnected by simply fixing one part while often times it’s a chain reaction as one part will affect another. What PLASB emphasizes is really on the integrated wholesome therapy for not only the physical body but also the mind (our consciousness). The time when the symptoms start to reveal itself may not be the best time for remedy because the root cause has been hidden usually for quite a while, sometimes even longer. For example, it has been researched that the mental impact of childhood trauma can be reflected in knee pain or even arthritis. So simply working on the knee joint does not fix the connected tissue (Qi or prana) or the mental aspect of such symptoms. Later on, it will also spread to other areas of the body and mind and cause distress.

What PLASB focuses on is a way to find the root cause without a curing intention. The energy inside us is not static and is in a constant moving state. Our symptoms are usually a manifestation of the imbalance of our energy. Energy travels through our physical body and our consciousness. If we start to view metabolism, aging and distress as part of a healing process, we will begin to see what really matters in the recovery. So instead of providing an instant method for distress, we want to walk you through the process by knowledge-sharing, experiencing and training. Because “YOU” alone is the only healing entity and everything comes from yourself (e.g., your realization).

We are currently hosting workshops and retreat programs through our website (www.plasb.squarespace.com) if you are interested in finding out more. We see great application amongst individuals as well as organizations.

All the money I raised will go directly to programming. I am using it to cover my online services as well as rental cost for workshops and equipments.

Risks and challenges

Taking people to various locations is expensive and also we cannot be able to do this just by ourselves. We are inviting members who is enthusiastic about creating and sharing content with us together. Eventually we envision our project to be a healthy and reciprocal cycle that can enrich itself and build up a sharing community.
