Hi, my name is Sean and I am introducing The Atomic Cafe-Mobile coffee truck, bringing you "Better Living Through Coffee” and the best quality in high octane beverages! We offer espresso, lattes, cappuccinos and ice blends.
At the Atomic Cafe, we have done the research necessary to obtain the best in delicious organic fair-trade coffee beans. Our truck is equipped with a professional-grade LIRA Two Group espresso machine imported from Italy for making perfect espresso extractions, and a Blendtec professional blender for all coffee frappes and fruit smoothies.
Imagine, the convenience of the Atomic Cafe traveling to you to provide you with premium coffee beverages where ever you are! City parks, the beach, art walks, festivals and difficult to reach places can now have access to coffee. The possibilities are endless!
The name Atomic Cafe is derived from 1950's and 1960's design aesthetic. I have always been inspired by the mid century concept and wish to revive that and breathe life back into the original Atomic Cafe location previously in DTLA.
I've been a graphic designer for most of my life. After being laid off from a company I worked at for 15 years, I contemplated all that has given me pleasure in life. Coffee stood out as something I love and can share with everyone!
The name Atomic Cafe is an homage the original Atomic Cafe located in downtown Los Angeles, as well as a nod to the mid-century atomic-age design aesthetic which has always inspired me. Coffee has been a part my life since the 90’s where I discovered a culture of spoken word and poetry readings, and I continued to enjoy it through the corporate coffee movement which began in the early 2000's. This brings us to now, 2015, and my vision of crafting the very best coffee possible and bringing it directly to you.
My life's journey has lead me to this vision. I have invested my life savings into The Atomic Cafe mobile truck. I now have the truck, all of the equipment, the right plans, the right builders and everything is so close to being completed! Yet there are unforeseen costs such as the final inspection, permits required for each location (The Atomic Cafe Mobile will primarily service South Bay communities), licenses and insurance. I would like to get a car wrap (van graphics) so we can convey our love of mid-century atomic design. Finally, The Atomic Cafe needs coffee as well as high-grade condiments, healthy alternatives to sweeteners, and many other supplies.
Risks and challenges
The risk of running any kind of food truck always includes the chance that the truck may need unforeseen repairs. In keeping with my design preferences, my first choice for a coffee truck was the Citroen H Van, but thankfully many truck builders talked me out of that and I’m convinced there is much less risk incurred by driving the Chevy van I acquired. This will be a tremendous challenge but I have a lot of support from friends, many of whom are already in the mobile food and beverage industry. It's great having someone to go to when you have a question.
Thank you for reading about me and my vision for The Atomic Cafe! Hope to see you out on the streets soon!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
