How many times have you immersed in fantastic atmospheres during your favorite boardgame session, role-playing games or historical re-enactments, and you felt that something was missing? Now your gaming and playing experience might be more immersive and realistic!
We are proud to present the campaign of 5 fabulous historical metal coin sets, to use in your preferred board game or role-playing game and making the difference. Every set is inspired by real historic coins and is composed of 21 coins in different colors.
If the campaign will be successful, we will show the coins in the next international Essen Fair (Germany, October 2018) and Lucca Comics and Games (Italy, November 2018).
Each coin has a diameter from 24 to 28 mm, while its thickness is about 1,5 mm. Every set contains 9 coins in copper color, 7 in silver and 5 in gold, for a total of 21 coins.
You may pledge multiple sets adding the right amount to your pledge.
The weight of a coin set is about 150 gr. Made in iron, electroplated to give color.
Imagine living in the wonders of Ancient Rome and strolling through the markets in search of splendors, or finding yourself in Italy during the communal period, engaged in the trades that were beginning to bloom again. Imagine being in Spain in the colonial period, involved in trade with the New World or participating in an expedition to South America, discovering the remains of a pre-Columbian civilization and finding its treasures, or being able to decipher a mysterious map and arrive at an overflowing treasure chest… What are you waiting for? Build up your treasury! Join our new adventure and help us making new shining coins!
A lot of boardgames use cardboard coins or markers to represent money, victory points or else. Only a few expansive deluxe versions have metal coins included, or you have to buy separately as add-ons or in the retail market. Now we are offering to you 5 different sets of metal coins, suitable for a large number of board games (or RPG settings, why not?), at a low cost but granting an excellent quality!
This project is on two crowdfunding platforms simultaneously: Giochistarter and Kickstarter. The coins, SGs are the same for both platforms. The official amount of funds raised by the campaign (which determines the stretch goals that will be unlocked) is the sum of the amounts raised on both campaigns. The total amount collected is automatically shown on Giochistarter campaign page.
The Ancient Roman set is inspired by different kind of Roman coins from different periods: stater - inspired by Greek coins, denarius - a dollar of antiquity - and aureus - heavier due to the higher density of gold.
Roman coins had an essential role spreading ideas and messages in the Roman society: they were like mass media. Incisions celebrated the history of Rome, they faced religious, social and historical themes, they celebrate monuments, they recalled myths, legends, victories: Roman coins were political propaganda.
The Italian Medieval set is inspired by medieval coins from different cities: Alfonsino issued in the Kingdom of Naples, Genovino from Genoa, Florin coined in the Republic of Florence.
From the second half of the eighth century, with the monetary reform of Charlemagne, the coinage in Western Europe resumed. Even if the diffusion is initially limited, gradually the use of money joins the barter which, after the collapse of the Roman Empire, had once again become the main means of exchange.
The Spanish Colonial set is inspired by coins issued in the period of overseas expansion when Spain discover the New World.
The Spanish set is inspired by the reals, used for several centuries in Spain, the escudo, and the doubloons, ancient gold coins minted in Spain and Spanish America from the 16th century to the middle of the 19th century, that in Europe became the model for several other gold coins. This is the perfect setting for any pirate or colonial game!
The Pre-Columbian Era set takes inspiration from the indigenous Americas cultures like Maya, Atzec, Inca civilizations.
Pre-Columbian civilizations used barter instead of money, so we design this set taking inspirations from their arts and rituals. Every coin represents a symbol or relevant element of those cultures, like the sun, cosmos, supernatural beings, or skulls. Use this set to enjoy boardgames set in the Americas before the Christopher Columbus' arrival in the New World.
From the late 4th century BC to the late 1st century BC, the Celts moved to a monetary economy because of relations and commercial contacts with the Greeks. Here is the background of the Celtic Apogee set!
Celtic coins were influenced by Mediterranean coinage: originally they copied the Greek types, then the design began to become more symbolic. There were engraved giants that drag heads severed, knights in charge, gods and goddesses, skulls, thunder and lightning, the sun and the moon. Celtic coins are miniature surreal art masterpieces, and you can use them in various RPG settings and board games with this background!
We prepared two levels of the pledge: for a single set and for all five different sets. If you want one of these options, simply click on the corresponding level. If you want two-three-four (and so on) sets, instead, simply add two-three-four times (and so on) the amount of a single set.
So, for example, if you want 3 sets of the Italian Medieval set and 1 of the Spanish Colonial set, your pledge will be 32 euro. If you want, instead, 7 Ancient Roman sets, your pledge will be 56 euro.
In the Pledge Manager phase (see below) you will specify which set(s) do you want, and also in that phase, you will be able to add multiple copies and/or add-ons.

Michele, Federico, Emiliano and Sara, 4 crazy kids in love with board games. This is Giochix!
We are in Rome, Italy. We love how board games bring people around the same table, letting each player find their own way to play and to try to win. We love to create something new, to bring fun and passion to other people. Developing games is the most interesting part: exploring new ways to play and new ways to think while having fun is fantastic!
We have realized many board games, trying to do better with each successive project! We made Samhain, Virus, VEC, Bomarzo, The Foreign King, Historia, CO2, Romolo o Remo, De Vulgari Eloquentia and for the Italian market Race for the Galaxy, Tales of the Arabian Nights, Princes of Renaissance, Altiplano, Fief, Mare Nostrum, Kanban, Tesla vs. Edison, Tiny Epic Kingdoms and many others. Risks and challenges
Production. The shipping date that we have indicated in the project will be a reasonably safe deadline. While we are confident in our abilities to meet the designated timing, unfortunately, delays are always a possibility and this must be taken into account.
It can happen that the deliveries suffer a delay for reason out of our control and this should be considered also.
Components. Game specifications and components are to be considered indicative of the final product and may be changed during final production.
Fairs. It is possible for the game's shipment to be scheduled to occur during a time frame close to a larger game fair, such as Essen Fair in Germany or Lucca Comics and Games in Italy. It is important to note that we will be showing/selling the game at these fairs independently of campaign participant shipment status. Attending these fair events is vital to the game's chances for success.
Order Canceling. An order can be canceled/refunded before the end of the campaign by clicking on the specific button in the order page or within 15 days from the order date by sending us an e-mail with the specific request. Besides these options, the order is considered as valid and is not cancelable/refundable.
Orders paid only partially will be awaiting full payment before being processed and shipped.
No Reward. Participation is bound to buy a reward. It can be done also during the pledge manager phase, if available. We can not accept money as a donation. Any participation that does not end with the purchase of an asset will be canceled and refunded.
Shipments. We ship by postal service or by supported courier (UPS, GLS, SDA, etc.)
We reserve the right to separate the contents of an order into different shipments or to merge the contents of different orders in the same shipment to improve the shipment's delivery speed and any required logistics management. If this happens, there will not be any additional costs to you as a customer (nor right to any refund).
Shipments made by courier or by insured postal service can be tracked and are considered insured.
Shipments made by the postal service are not insured and cannot be traced. While rare it is also possible that a package may be lost (0.1-1%). The insurance option for postal services costs an additional 3 euros.
Courier shipments may take about 1-2 days for Italy, 3-6 days for EU/US/Canada and 1-2 weeks for the rest of the world. Postal service shipments require about 1-2 weeks for Italy, 2-7 weeks for EU/US/Canada and 4-9 weeks for the rest of the world. Please note that the postal service in the same case can be slow and may suffer several weeks of additional delay. This happens very rarely but it is still a possibility and is out of our control. If you would like a faster delivery or wish to avoid any risk of a long delay in the arrival of the package, please use a courier service.
Courier shipment insures against package loss, destruction, and package damage. Postal service insurance insures against package loss or destruction. Insurance requires a customer claim to be made when the package is delivered. Ask the postman.
If the game failed to arrive because of your mistake (wrong address, recipient absent, not picking up at courier/postal warehouse, etc.), you will have to pay an additional shipping/warehousing cost for us to re-send/re-deliver your game. This cost will also include the return costs of the game. On the other hand, if the error is ours, we will send it again to you at our expense. If the package is lost or destroyed, we will reship it at our expense only if it was insured.
Important: Please note that we will not reship any game without first having investigated what happened to the first shipment. This can be processed quickly through the courier service option but may require an additional 1-5 weeks through the postal service.
We will no longer accept complaints related to the shipments of items of this campaign (package damaged, lost or missing contents) after 6 months from the date of shipment.
If you live outside of the European Community, custom's taxes may be added. This usually doesn't happen for boardgames; however, please check your country's rules and regulations as this aspect will not be our responsibility.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
