So for those of you who know me, you know that I am both an Aspie and a writer. As I have recently had to start intensive therapy for my Asperger's, I have stopped writing full time. But I can't stop writing altogether, so what better time than now to write a book for other females on the spectrum that tells my story? Females on the spectrum are so much different than males in many ways, and I have teamed up with a remarkably successful publisher/marketer to get this project up and running. What I need from you is help making sure my family doesn't drown in my absence from work.
While this will eventually be a series of survival guides, I felt like the first step was to tell my story, and that is where I am asking for your help. Life as an undiagnosed aspie was hard, and life as a female Aspie in a treatment world geared towards males is hard, too. But I know that I can persevere through anything and I truly believe that my story begs to be told. My life isn't Asperger's, but Asperger's has sure made my life interesting in ways that are hilarious, heartbreaking, and everything iin between. Don't you want to be a part of bringing this story to the page?
For the first book in the series, we are looking basically at my life as a female Aspie from diagnosis and how hard it was to obtain to what it was like being undiagnosed for so long, being labeled problem child and antisocial and so many other things. As a female, I and others on the spectrum are expected to be social, so we learn tricks that help us fit in to some degree, but that also make diagnosis harder. I want to show what my life is like from day to day and more importantly what it was like growing up so that maybe others will see it in themselves or their daughters and recognize it for what it is.
First we will be publishing through online bookstores such as Kobo, Barnes and Noble, and Amazon, but my publisher has brought two of his books to the top of Amazon's bestsellers and we will be publishing the entire series in paperback.
Once I get going, I am hard to stop, so I am looking at a month for a draft, a month for edits, and then a few weeks tops to publication on Amazon and other markets, with lots and lots of guest blogging, marketing, and self-promotion in the middle with the help of my publisher.
Think you can help? Every little bit counts. I would love your support and without it, this project can't exist!
Risks and challenges
The risks of my project are simply that I may not be able to afford to keep writing, but that is why I set my goal. My collaborator is amazing, and his track record is flawless, with multiple Amazon bestsellers under his belt. I have no doubts that we will see great success with this book and with the series, and with your help, we can make this something amazing!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
